If they want to get 50 wins then they need to win about 77% of the games they're supposed to win (teams under .500) and about 60% of the games that are going to be tough (teams above .500) remaining under .500 teams: @ Lakers Hawks @ Hornets Miami @ Dallas Hornets Suns Timberwolves @ Hawks @ Grizzlies @ Pelicans Knicks Suns I would say the bolded games are the ones that Houston has no business losing. That would be 7/13 or 53.8%. That means the Rockets would need to win at least 3 more of those games that aren't bolded. Would have to go 3/6 against Lakers, Hornets twice, Miami, Wolves, and Pelicans. If the Rockets are serious about winning then they should be able to go 10/13 against these teams. Pelicans and Wolves should be easy wins. Beat the Hornets once or Miami. remaining over .500 teams @ Warriors @ Celtics @ Raptors 76ers Warriors Spurs @ Bucks Nuggets Kings @ Kings Clippers @ Thunder The Rockets have 6 home games and 6 away games. If you can go 4/6 at home and 3/6 on the road then that gives you a 58.3 win percentage. Those 7 wins plus the 10 away games is 17 wins. 17 plus the 33 and that would be 50 wins. Simple, right? The problem is that the Rockets are boneheaded and make things more difficult than they should be. If the remaining home games I think the Rockets should be able to beat the Spurs, Kings, and Clippers. That leaves 76ers, Warriors, and Nuggets, and we would need to win one of those. Nuggets should be the one we should win since we are a match-up nightmare against them. Of the remaining 6 away games the only one that looks easy is the Kings game even though they'll be hungry for the 8th seed. After that we only need to win 2 more. Warriors, Celtics, Raptors, Bucks, and Thunder. None of those will be easy, but if the Rockets can't go 2/5 against those teams they don't deserve 50 wins anyways. so here's the plan-for-50-wins: Go 10/13 against sub-500 teams: Go 4/6 at home against 500-plus teams: Go 3/6 on the road against 500-plus teams: And I mean that in the must-win way. Ideally, I would love Houston to go 11/13, 5/6 and 4/6, and think that they could if they're as good as they think they are. That would mean Houston would go 20-5, but the chance of the Rockets suddenly focusing now isn't too likely. 17-8 seems like the best case scenerio honestly. Chances are they finish 15-10 and with 48 wins. And blame it on injuries instead of lack of focus or effort. Their record would reflect how good the Rockets actually are.
Gee, the thread title is neutral, but somehow I knew this thread would be full of "My life sucks!" You guys are sad. Literally. Unhappy people.
Wow clutchfans b****es about everything. He has a goal of 50 wins. Ok. Nothing wrong with that. You guys are responding like he said I only care about 50 wins and **** championships. One goal doesn’t preclude the other one from happening.
I'm gonna be super optimistic and say 22-3. They got 2 vs GS, 1 vs TOR, 1 vs Bucks, 1 vs 76ers and 1 vs Celts. As it stands the Rockets are 2-0 vs GS, 1-0 vs TOR, 0-1 vs Bucks, 0-1 vs 76ers and 1-0 vs Celts. I'm gonna predict 3-1 vs GS, 2-0 vs TOR, 1-1 Bucks, 1-1 76ers and 1-1 vs Celts. Of the matchups, I could honestly see the Rockets go 2-0 vs Celtics. They just play them well. That leaves one throway gimme win that they let slip through their fingers. Take your pick between Spurs, T-Puppies or Kings for that 3rd L, which would put the Rockets at 55 Wins, securing the 3rd seed. Truthfully though I wouldn't be surprised to see a 17-8 record and for them to stumble right out of the gate while still finding their chemistry this late into the season. The Lakers game tomorrow is a trap game. If they lose, I could see them being discouraged following vs GS the next game. I'm assuming the Rockets are going to turn it up and play like they did last year when the Rockets Big 3 was healthy.
people really mad that Tilman set a hopeful goal of 50 wins this season which is all u can ask for based off what has gone down so far this season I’m sorry, but 50 wins and a good showing in the WCF would be a win for this squad
"We'll for sure do that. We'll go higher than that, I think. You know how high you power-puke Landry's gumbo? Higher than that, even."
Well he's not saying he doesn't expect the Rockets to win a championship, and it's not like it's the beginning of the season and Tilman is predicting the Rockets will win (just) 50 games. It's the second half of the part of the season people claim don't count. 50 is a realistic number. He didn't become a billionaire being dumb and pessimistic.
