The eyes were a poor creative choice.

Otherwise I enjoyed it quite a bit.

About the eyes. . . I will Quote Mr. Glass: This is one of Johann Davis's earliest drawings. See the villain's eyes? They're larger than the other characters'. They - insinuate a slightly skewed perspective on how they see the world. Just off normal.

Which maybe why it bothered me a bit.
    but it was not major
I never felt a feeling of tensions with her . . .she won too ofter too early too easily.

    I have several unanswered question
    Maybe in the second movie

    7/10 - a passing grade

This is why the eyes are bothering everyone...

The concept of the uncanny valley suggests humanoid objects which appear almost, but not exactly, like real human beings elicit uncanny, or strangely familiar, feelings of eeriness and revulsion in observers. Wikipedia

IMHO the choice to use the large anime eyes was a terrible idea - it ruined what looks like a really cool movie.

Enjoyed it on Dolby theater 3D

The special effects are much better than on the tv commercial that’s not on native high resolution screens

I can understand people's perspectives, I enjoyed it and would actually like to see a sequel or trilogy.

It's doing really well world wide and had a strong weekend overseas in China:

China Box Office: ‘Alita’ Wins the Weekend

Hollywood and Chinese sci-fi offerings went head-to-head at the Chinese box office this weekend. Newcomer “Alita: Battle Angel” smashed its way to the top with a $64 million debut — streaking past the Chinese titles that, though popular, have been in theaters since the Lunar New Year holiday at the start of the month.

Fox’s futuristic tale of an amnesiac cyborg who rediscovers her identity on the mean streets of Iron City nearly doubled the weekend tally of “The Wandering Earth,” the Chinese sci-fi blockbuster that has climbed the charts since its Feb. 5 debut to become the country’s second-highest grossing film of all time. The Chinese film took in $34.3 million this weekend towards a cumulative total of $641.2 million, according to figures from consulting firm Artisan Gateway.

“Alita” is the first foreign film to hit Chinese theaters after the heady new year period, during which authorities impose an unofficial blackout on imported titles to bolster the local industry. Its first day ticket sales surpassed that of the “Transformers” series spinoff “Bumblebee,” and also knocked “The Wandering Earth” off a 15-day streak at the top of the daily box office.

Online user reviews raved about “Alita’s” visual effects, with Weibo influencer “flypig” writing: “This film represents the most advanced visual effects you can see on planet Earth in 2019.” Nevertheless, metrics on the Maoyan online platform predicted that its estimated China earnings would fall some $560 million short of those for “The Wandering Earth,” its technologically less adept, homegrown rival,

The movie was very close to the anime movie which I think deviated from the comic. In the anime, she kicked everyone's ass even more easily without any special body. She also looked completely human and was tiny like a little kid.

I enjoyed the hell out of this movie. Really wasn't sure what to expect and never cared anything about the original source material. Action sequences were a lot of fun and I thought the world building was top notch without being distracting. I went in thinking the eyes would bother me but honestly I got over that pretty quickly. In general, I was actually really impressed by how expressive Alita's face was despite the motion capture stuff. I've never seen that pulled off before but she didn't come off feeling like a robot to me, which is impressive.

This movie also provided one of the best "HELL YEAH" moments I've seen in cinema in several years...

When she is fighting the big cyborg guy down in the tunnels and tells the guy "**** your mercy!" just before BREAKING HER ARM OFF IN HIS EYE SOCKET. How badass was that? I left that movie HOPING that I would have some moment in my life where it will be appropriate to tell someone "**** your mercy".

Probably skip the arm thing, though.

I really enjoyed this movie. Never saw the source material, but it definitely has appeal as a franchise. The uncanny valley is much better than the original trailer, but I still think the real actress would have been better.

After seeing this movie my faith in movie critics is officially down to nil. No it was not the greatest or anything, but it was a good film that should be enjoyable for most people interested in sci-fi, action, anime, cyberpunk. I'd give it a solid 80. Meanwhile I've lost count how many 95s on rottentomatoe I've left feeling ripped off. Also not sure what's the big deal about the eyes. She's an android, so what if she doesn't look completely human? That's like complaining the people in Avatar looked too blue.

My only issue was that there was no real conclusion, between Alita and the bad guy.

That's sorta of a spoiler if you remember this comment while you are at the movies.
