ClutchFans Game Thread: Rockets @ Timberwolves 2/13/2019

This entire season has made me wonder if small ball was just a fad, esp with the influx of skilled bigs. Imagine if we didn't sign Clint last summer... We'd get games like this all season.

 

Tucker had the worst +/- on the team and Faried was embarrassing on defense.

And yet apparently D'Antoni didn't think that Hartenstein or Clark were worth playing even 1 minute. Trash

 

Gerald green was 3 for 6 so he hit his last 3 3s right? The man was 5 for 19 before that

 

Danuel house was shooting 50/50/90 splits he is badly missed at this point

 

No but Rockets are better with him. Faried against bench should be a plus as well.

People got to stop underestimating teams, it is hard to win in this league

 

Faried is THAT bad on defense.... Chris Paul isn’t quite right yet and the Rockets miss Capela.

A lot of these loses are really inexcusable.

 

Harden 42 pts....4-4 FTs?????????? He went to the line 3 times. PG3 had more free throws...6-7.

 

As bad as it is, he should gotten more def, but Harden didnt drive that much this game.

 

Harden got hot when you’re best player gets hot you stick with him. When he gets hot when the game is close you ride him out. How hard is it to understand. I wish clutch would do an IP check on these people with alternate ids who come here to troll with their multiple ids

 

Can we please get Morris and slide pj to the 3 and sit eg ass down. If I see this chipmunk looking fool throw his hands up when he drive one more time?

 

I can confidently decide to watch the next game, and skip the one after next.

 

Man hes not trolling, just because someone criticized Harden sometimes, doesnt mean they hate him, like hes not even saying anything egregious, just that Harden needed to move the ball more..

I say maybe we hit 2/3 more threes with the crap shooters we have out there if they're taking them instead of him and still lose. I dont even care about the volume. I'm looking at a squad right now outside of Harden who cant shoot, rebound, keep a lead, have awful 3rd's, a coach who hates TO's esp in the 3rd.

The last thing im worried about is Harden passing to crappy shooters.

We're only even worried about our playoff seeding because of one man... him.

 

Capela isn’t that much better against smaller players. Though he is better against bigger guys or slower guys. He gets killed whenever he willingly switches to a guard. That or we get killed inside.



What’s killing us is second chance points. So many times we have the rebound and we can hold into the ball. Also making stupid turnovers mainly Eric, green and tucker. No one can hit an open shot and I think Shumpert doesn’t want to switch everything like we do so that’s has given more space for other teams. He needs to get with the program or we will have a Melo 2.0 in our defense. Better defender but if he doesn’t switch it will mess with the assignments.

(What happened tonight?) All of it. 35 in the 3rd, 34 in the 4th. I hate to keep saying the same thing. If we don't come out with any fire, put people away, let them hang around, happened Saturday, happened tonight, we need more enthusiasm about playing the game.

We have a hard time guarding, rebounding. You need to do that with some enthusiasm. ... We didn't guard. We've done about 10 games like this. It's inexcusable but it is what it is. Gotta try to figure it out.

(Shoulder still nagging him?) I don't think so. You'd have to ask him. That's the least of our problems. Offense the least of our problems. Right from the get go, you could feel it the whole game, not enough enthusiasm, not enough want. When we do that, we struggle. We're not physical or big like the other teams. When we don't push pace or defend with great energy & rebound, it becomes a slug fest & we lose.

You can win a lot of games when you play hard. If you don't, you can lose a lot. We have periods where we don't play real hard.

(Why no fire? Is it contagious?) There's about a thousand reasons but the reason is you have to have it. You have to be a professional, know the standings, know where we are, how important it is. We didn't do it. Reason doesn't matter. If we want to be serious, we'll have to find it. We'll take a week off. Probably get away from each other, which is a good thing & get back next week.

(James bump knees?) Probably. Some kind of contusion. He's fine.

 

To be fair to Faried, he's getting matched up against most centers all night. He's not that tall and he isn't that strong.

 

Why we lost:

1. Defense
2. Rebounding
3. Effort

There is no other reason. This is as simple as it gets. There is not point of pointing fingers, and trying to blame individual players. The Rockets need to collectively defender and rebound better.
