Unique point of view here. I'm sold immediately and I've changed my mind about what we should do.

We are 20-9 at home, and 14-15 on the road. So the more home court advantage, the better.

We can absolutely catch the Nuggets. I see 12-13 games left on their schedule they could conceivably lose. And let's say they lost 12 more. Assuming the Rockets beat them at Toyota Center on 3/28, they clinch the tiebreaker and would be able to finish ahead of Denver with a 52-30 record which would require a 19-7 finish(which is very doable with Capela back).

And before anyone says that 12 more losses seems too far-fetched, Denver still has to go on the road to Golden State(twice), Houston, San Antonio, Portland, Utah, OKC, Boston, Indiana, and the Lakers. And that's to say nothing of some of the tough home games they have remaining.

    Agree with Will's points.

On another note, and this might not be a popular opinion, but if the Rockets are going to lose (loser mentality!), I would rather it be the WCF than the 2nd round. I don't like the thought of OKC getting to the WCF on the other side of the bracket. And all the media attention that affords.

    Yeah, I am that petty.

According to Harvard University Sports Analysis:
    Probability to win West Conference:
    1st seed: 27%
    2th seed: 16%
    3rd seed: 18% (higher than 2nd seed)
    4th seed: 11%
    5th seed: 13% (higher than 4th seed)
    6th seed: 6%
    7th seed: 5%

6th and 7th seeds are the worst. 3th seed is better.
Lakers reporters target 6th or 7th seed. Why?

It's all perspective. If GS ends up being 1 and DEN/OKC are 4 and 5, then I'd rather not be the 8th seed, because you're guaranteed that there'd be only one out of the three, remaining in the WCF.

Worst case scenario is if we didn't have HCA, and then had to face all 3 of DEN/OKC/GS, in no particular order. It'd make us battle-tested for the Finals, but that's the single hardest playoff road, this season.

I'm not sure what that means, but of course you do, Deck.

It's not even petty. Our front office has been trading away draft picks and focusing on attracting free agents from the buyout market. If we go out in the second round, and the Thunder are playing in the WCF, they'll become more attractive, and they'll snag some of the people we want.

It's our misfortune to be in the same conference as the Warriors, or we'd be in the finals a lot in the Harden era. Let's not make it worse by failing to get to the conference finals.

No time to figure out probability. All 3 teams have very tough schedules.
    Just guess,

    1 seed: 5%
    2 seed: 10%
    3 seed: 20%
    4 seed: 40%
    5 seed: 20%

    2 seed look like
Rockets beat GS two times (must win situation)
    GS beat Nuggets two times
    Rockets beat Nuggets one time
After this, still 2 Game Bounds

    1 seed look like
    GS finish with 16-10
    Rockets finish with 24-2

Hi, since you are 5, I am going to tell you 2nd or 3rd is on top of 4-6, like higher, which means we are better...more good.

Delusional. Denver will win a lot more than 52 games. they have a very good record against .500 teams

or the rockets have a bad week. yall act like we will get clint back and become unbeatable. denver has proven to be legit, at least as far as regular season. not even injuries have stopped them. 5 games is a lot to overcome with only 30 games or so left. rockets are 21-9 in their last 30 and still have barely gained any ground on the nuggets. they would probably need to go around 27-3.....dont hold your breath

I tend to agree with Gray_Jay that a flame-out by the Warriors in the first round would be considered much worse for the NBA than a loss in the WCF. Don't know if it is accurate, but the idea is likely that a lot of people won't tune in if the Warriors are eliminated.

I would prefer to face them in the WCF.

    In today's nba,
8 seed to win Championships = Fantasy
Try the best to get 3 seed.

    Yes,
    WCF > 2nd round
    2nd round > 1st round

I want the Rockets to take out the Warriors in any postseason scenario, the earlier the better.

That would be so sweet and satisfying.

That's hilarious! I'm going to blow that up a bit and put it in my study, adding it to the images I took in India, the cobra skin mounted on the wall along with the photo I took of the snake charmer I bought it from, who is playing his gourd flute, a live cobra rising from his basket, my 90 gallon freshwater fish tank (too small), hundreds of books (way more in other parts of the house), my desk and PC, and my certificate from Pan American stating that I have circumnavigated the globe. Oh, and some great photos of my lady with Valdez the Wonder Dog, still a legend in the Montrose for lifting his leg and giving his opinion of an entirely unoriginal painting at the Westheimer Art Festival some "artist" was fool enough to leave leaning against a tree. It was kind of large. That was sometime during the '70's.

Hey, it was a great concert.
