Yes, but we could have done that by releasing these scrubs instead of attaching 5 picks to them.

To OP's credit, the thread is about the disappointment in the "salary dump trade deadline". Not necessarily the moves made before now.

Depends where you look, but the Rockets are pretty consistent in that 5-8 team range in terms of odds to win a championship this year, at this point. They are usually either 2nd or 3rd in the West... some books now have them 4th, depending on where they place the Nuggets, in the West. But most books have at least 3 eastern conference teams right behind the Warriors which makes sense.

All he has done since he got the rockets seems like he is in fact a cheapstake. It sucks

We're the best team in the league now! No one can stop us, not even the Warriors!

We even saved money on our tax and kept Tilman's wallet safe! Everyone wins!

Have you watched him on D? maybe he'll look better when Clint comes back and he'll just play against second units. But in the playoffs, I wouldn't expect much PT for him.

I disagree we will have rotation of
    CP3
    Harden
    Gordon /Shumpert / Green
    Tucker
    Capela / Faried

That’s a 8 man rotation + the pieces we get in the buyout market we will be ok our main goal right now should be staying healthy

    Faried can play the 4.

What were you expecting the Rockets to do?

Let me quote you to the saving face that was flowing after we got MCW/Knight/Melo et al. It was basically your post with their names when the sports world called the rockets the biggest loser in the off season.

So 21 ish million coming in with Ellington, Green, and Temple. Wonder what we were going to send out? Knight, Chriss, (duh), but what else? Guess salary-wise, that would have worked, and would have resulted in the Rockets both taking on salary and getting better.

Which would have gone a long way to undercut the "Tillman is cheap!" meme.

i was all for standing pat last year at the deadline...we were first. This year its different just wanted us to go out and get a player like a porter or microtic which would have been ideal or the most expected from our limited assets. Shump is solid but hes not someone who will move the needle vastly.

the only thing which provides hope is that no one knows what this current rocket team is capable of. We have the best record vs the best teams, have beaten GS, Boston, Toronto, denver with 2/3 best players not playing. I am under the assumption this current team is at best a WCF 4-2 loss to the warriors or at worst a second round out to a team like the thunder.

I don't mind the team we have. Just need to get healthy....Shumpert is a solid addition.
Buyout market may also prove valuable...

I understand the sentiment here, but this buyout market is looking to be as formidable as any in recent memory. Kanter, Jordan, Wesley Matthews, Robin Lopez, Kaminsky, Markieff Morris, and more are likely to hit the street in the next week. Rumors are that this team is willing to spend what is needed into the luxury tax to land the big names here Morey thinks we'll need to win now. My sense is that Jordan/Lopez will be priorities and Mattews/Morris will be a close second. The MLE + spend over the luxury tax will be critical, and ridding ourselves of the players that were cluttering roster spots has enabled this.

Cheap owners don't win championships. People forget..a cheap owner is how we got Harden...OKC Thunder could've had a dynasty and they blew it!! I see Rockets ownership blowing it right now. Harden is in his prime..our championship window is closing fast...you go all in!! This penny pinching stuff never works!!
