I think Jesus would ride a dinosaur and shoot an assault weapon ... to glorify his father in Heaven ... and in some weird way is also himself.

They increase taxes on all they want, the rich will just leave. Then who is left to pay?

Go for it and depending on the rate. We will see the very wealthy leave or still avoid paying taxes.

Glynch is a socialist, and that would be crazy.

Venezuela was in big trouble before socialism came around. That is why socialism came to to exist. Venezuela has had constant political turmoil and for decades been totally dependent upon oil.

It isn't envy, and it isn't for failures.

Do you not thing the wage gap in this country is a problem? Nothing being floated out there would prevent people from getting obscenely rich.

Does the government waste a lot of money? Absolutely because they are subsidizing seemingly everything, but wanting quality healthcare and education for everyone isn't wasteful.

Hate to say it but a college education free for everyone at the current costs might be a waste. There are too many very expensive degrees being wasted. Not sure subsidizing four or more years for everyone wouldn't (in some cases) not just spending money to extend adolescence. I would not be opposed to providing free college on the condition that the recipients actually graduate and commit to serve the community for X years in return.

I'm not into the free college education either, especially on a National level. I believe in a state system that allows for a free 4 year degree, and many states already have it (HOPE/Zell Miller Scholarship here in GA, which has unfortunately been watered down, but used to cover tuition as long as you maintained a 3.0, now for the full amount it is like a 3.7). The real problem is borrowing is too easy and rampant. Spending 6 figures on an undergrad degree is insane.

There is a gap due to technology and globalization allowing entrepreneurs to capture significant revenue, market share and ownership in a fast period of time. I see that as a byproduct of any growing market. What i try to look at is absolute growth in lifestyle and whether the government can actually do something about it.

The government has failed in its War on Poverty. Has Poverty been eliminated?
The government has failed in its War on Homelessness. Has Homelessness been eliminated?

I really don't know why people expect the government to miraculously normalize wages through some foolish wand. Benefits and wages have been rising and people have multiple offers these days due to growth of the economy. Growth of the economy was due to corporate tax cuts, reduction in regulations and policies of a pro-business government.

The little guy trickle down guys and the WSJ etc. have been preaching for 50 years that Holland, Germany and France and Scandinavia would completely collapse for at least since the the 1960's.

This is a bit wonky for y'all, but for your info VZLA has had little nationalization of industry other than oil and falls far below Scandinavia in terms of what percentage of the economy is owned collectively or by the government. Won't find this is the biz press.

It's sickening how Trump is trying to punish blue states with his BS law.

I get what you are saying but it also punished states with a combo of high property taxes and high sales taxes. Like Texas.

"fair" is always the tough question. People can legitimately disagree on this issue.

It's still punishing blue states especially NYC. I am going to pay higher federal taxes because of this stupid law. Which means I spend less locally and thus hurts the NY economy. Instead that money goes disportionately to red states that voted for Trump.

This law is just Trump's way of punishing the states that don't like him and helping the ones that do. And you can try to put a rose on a turd but it's just a turn with a rose sticking out of it at the end of the day.

that's a byproduct, not necessarily the intention.

    me too, about $6k more

this is just whining after the fact

which only makes sense if you're prejudiced against the rural poor

an alternative way of spinning that is: once again, Trump wins at politics

cute image, but the point of the two articles is that there is a decent argument to be made that this is still good policy, even though as always there are winners and losers for following a policy.

From where I sit . . . anything that makes Andrew Cuomo squirm is a feature, not a bug. ;)

Why should the rural poor or red state residents get more money from the feds than urban poor or blue state residents?

It goes to stupid thing like putting in massive amounts of anti-Muslim terrorist prevention tech in Topeka, Kansas while leaving LaGuardia with a bomb sniffing dog.

You should be happy. Clearlly, you are successful and you are getting to share your wealth with others. It is fair. Quit complaining. I don't think you should try and dictate where or for what your money is spent. You didn't build it after all,,,,

As an aside, yes the tax cut (imho) stunk. Also, unnecessarily exacerbated wealth gap tensions. (may have helped economy but I am ill equipped to pine on this).

But, sometimes if you would give on any points or just seem to recognize there can be two valid viewpoints, you would be even more convincing. In any event, you are passionate which I respect.
