    Sounds like a great event and worth cause. I thought about posting on the Hangout but suspected it would soon turn political, so...

    Sounds like a cool event. It kinda sucks that the whole thing has a racial overtone to it though. But I guess these fellas think that particular subset of the population needs to be focused on.

    Sounds like a great event. These light-skin dudes stealing all the energy though. Someone should have invited Lebron, Draymond or Harden for a nice gradient of tones.

    Anything that promotes positive role models for young men, especially young men of color is a good thing. I signed up for the streams.

    Eh. I find it kinda gross and divisive whenever things are explicitly racial in nature. Kinda weird that they feel the need to advertise it as such. I think Obama, Curry, and Legend participating in any kind of event would have a pretty significant black attendance lean to it regardless.

    Obama, Curry and Legend will so be able to relate with other black men and provide guidance on reducing youth violence....

    Obama can talk about his time in Hawaii and when he was on the Harvard Law Review..... Steph Curry can talk about growing up the in the upper class suburbs as the son of a well liked NBA player and Legend can talk about being home schooled, graduating from high school at 12 years old and graduating from Penn.

    Yeah this isn't pretentious at all......

    I get it. Black men are in larger need of help than white men. That's the ugly reality.

    However...I look up to Obama, Curry, and Legend. The fact I feel not welcome at such an event kinda sucks.

    I think it might benefit men of color to invite/welcome men of other backgrounds to this cause. Maybe?

    Perhaps, and I get your point. I just think there are more challenges for young people of color growing up. I never had an issue with "bring your daughter to work" (perhaps because I had two daughters) and special math, science and technology programs targeting girls, even though both could be criticized in the same way.

    I know I am supporting this and think it would be cool if all people did.

    Regardless of their backgrounds, these guys are iconic figures. The fact they have achieved what they have, and their unique and uncommon stories, do give people something larger to aim at and strive for.

    You don't necessarily need a total piss-n-vinegar bluecollar backstory to have credibility or be able to lead the way for others.
