Horrible if true - means next year instead of being able to flip Knight + assets for someone making 4/5-6/5 of his contract - we get another veterans minimum guy instead …..

This doesn't get them out of the tax this year but it probably gets them out of the tax next year.

That contract is your financial vehicle to adding a quality player either in the offseason or up to the deadline from a non-contender looking to dump salary in the future. You cant dump this contract for nothing when you have Harden , Capela and CP3 taking up the majority of the cap and add any significant piece.

Sixers gave up a lot though. Covington and Saric are good young players. And they gave up forf picks, including Miami's unprotected, for Harris and Boban. They emptied the was chest. Rivers and Faried are minimum signings and we have all of our picks.

I'm sure we could get players if we dangled Capela and all of our picks too.

I don’t know if that trade means they are in full-rebuild mode. It could simply be a case of them improving their assets for an Anthony Davis trade.

Morey sure has had to do lot of moves to get rid of a contract and or trade our pick the last few years for marginal talent in return. He’s losing his touch a bit.

Once again, we are one of the best offensive teams in the league. Burks will not make a dent on that side of the ball, even though he's a good scorer.

Meanwhile he would be our worst wing defender so whoever he takes minutes from it will make us worse defensively - unless it's Green, who shouldn't be playing a minute for us when healthy and if we acquire a decent wing. He's not going to turn it around now, just like Faried/Ennis/MCW/Melo didn't. Players at this stage of their careers are 99% done developing otherwise they wouldn't be available for nothing.

This is a cap saving move, regardless of whatever shpiel they intend to roll out.

    Did this trade already happen?
Why is everyone saying it has but can’t seem to find it?

I dont like we crazily collect guards.

We dont need so many guards.

We need some big player who can rebound and play solid defense.

Not just tax savings, maybe they take Chriss

I have a feeling Morey wants to try to be active in free agency
