I envy your positivity. Take a look around at the top teams in the league and look at your team's future. Damn, I would kill for your positivity.

it doesnt seem like he has really been givin a chance. you cant come off a major injury be your best right away. he is probably still not even in the type of shape he needs to be in.

If only Morey drafted a stud defensive center who can catch lobs, get rebounds, and defend the perimeter at the same time? Imagine if he acquired an all-NBA guard to play alongside Harden? Its a shame, Harden was never surrounded by "real" talent.

    Calm the hell down.

I said a precursor, meaning that another deal will follow. This gets us a shooting guard who has hit from 3 better than EG over the last three years, and the next deal would shore up our defense, hopefully. So we wouldn't be giving up EG for Burks, we'd be giving up EG for defense, and getting Burks as a stopgap.

Gotta break some eggs to make an omelet, and besides, EG's egg has been cracked all year anyway.

using knights contract is our only way to get a significant player without giving up anyone of value in our rotation

Wasting it here with a pick is basically the end of our midseason moves.

Wish the Wizards would do Knight and a first for Ariza. :/

If all we do at the deadline is dump salary I wouldn't blame Harden for being furious.

Will wait to see how the entire thing shakes out before passing any judgment.

I bet no one in the rotation is off limits except James Harden.

Do you really need to pass judgment?

at the end of the day this wouldnt be done for the sole reason of improving the team and actually makes it even harder to do so with 1 less asset

Burks has been a target for a long time now. He's a minor upgrade this year while also saving money long term. Not a big fan of moves motivated by saving money when you're in win now mode though.

Wonder if they’d take Burks and cap savings for Ariza and some of their other contracts.

Washington is $5 MM over the luxury tax and in no position to compete. They should be offloading salary and extracting whatever value they can out of their expirings.

WAS in - Burks, Nene, CLE 2nd, HOU 2nd
    WAS out - Ariza, Morris

    HOU in - Ariza, Morris
HOU out - Knight, Chriss, Nene, HOU 1st, HOU 2nd

CLE in - Knight, Chriss, HOU 1st
CLE out - Burks, CLE 2nd

This trade would get Washington under the luxury tax while acquiring some assets. We’d get two rotation pieces for picks. CLE would get a 1st for taking on Knight’s extra year.

Wasting a first round pick just to save ownership some cash and throw away a valuable expiring chip for next season would be a large disappointment. If you’re going to use Knight and a pick, get an actual player back, not somebody who sucks.

So you would want to watch the Phoenix sons all season long?

Burks doesn’t suck - he is a solid player. Can handle the rock, penetrate, and hit the open jump shot. Doesn’t seem to grade well defensively but the tools are there.

Agreed that it’d be an underwhelming move, but he’d be a good rotation piece for us

We don't need anymore G-League type of players. Harden needs actual help.

I think it’s funny how some people seem to “know” that the trade they want for the price they want is for sure available out there somewhere and that Morey is just too dumb to do it.
