I may not be following you, but the AMT is another way of calculating taxes ostensibly to make sure people aren't avoiding too much in taxes. I have never heard of it as a sheltering tool. Instead, if the normal calculation shows you owe X, you may have to pay more than X due to the AMT.

What you don't understand is that despite what my income is I don't begrudge those that make more. Life is an opportunity for each of us to do so and we live off of what we produce. Envy and jealousy lead to wanting the government to make it more 'fair'. Those are terrible senses where its a great world where anyone can do whatever they like.

I'm not saying money is everything but those that invest and come up with ideas should be rewarded for it. That is America.

That is why America succeeds.

 

You really are lost. You live in this world in which you think there is a utopia of socialism that will allow you as a teacher,
a union worker or employee elsewhere to get all these benefits and normalize people's lifestyles.

That leads to failure everywhere and across the system.

Everything in life is about incrementalism. We only work as little as we can to get the most.

I have zero idea whether the reduction in corporate tax rate is going to foster retention of business etc. Hopefully, yes. But as has been stated elsewhere, this mishmash of tax reform is certainly no cut for many of the working "rich". It has some nice provisions if you have LLC's and LLP's holding assets (think real estate), but if you form one of those business entities and are a professional you are specifically excluded.

I would vote to repeal it in a heartbeat with the only caveat being that I don't know if the corporate tax rate is going to end up beneficial to our larger economy or if that is bs. ​

My argument would be that Trickle Down Economics simply have not worked...going all in on them isn't going to be a solution.

I would ask myself here, WWJD...and I must admit, it is hard to imagine that Jesus would horde as much money as he possibly could, call poor people envious, and basically ignore their plight to good health and happiness so that he can make an extra 5 million. I dunno, maybe I'm wrong though and that's something he would totally do.
