Yeah a handful of teams that Paul knows damn well do not have the assets to add Davis.

This is all about pushing Davis to LA so James has a buddy.

How does this statement help push him to LA?

If he really wants to go to LA, he just has to say "I'm only going to end up with LAL". If another team wants to take a risk and trade for him at that point, that's their prerogative.

It creates a fake sense of urgency so LAL stops messing around and puts all of their overrated assets in the pile so another disgruntled star can help LeBron erase the fact that he cannot carry a team in the WC like James Harden, the true GOAT.

Yeah I think this statement helps NOLA and hurts Boston mostly. This way teams will be more likely to risk trading more for him.

I think AD if he somehow landed in houston would def resign here.

Lebrons old man he doesn’t have much time left. His body is breaking down and I don’t expect it to get better moving forward.

The only thing is... it is the Lakers, and I gotta imagine AD thinks he can attract talent their once Lebron is gone.

But that’s a long time lebron still has 3 yrs after this one.

I mean, one would have to assume Lebron is kind of "running things" in LAL, too. I know that's not really possible to the extent it was in Cleveland, but I mean I assume that there isn't some kind of internal debate among Laker brass and Lebron and his camp about what is too much or isn't too much to offer.

    http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/...re-handful-teams-anthony-davis-sign-long-term

The New Orleans Pelicans have been made aware of an extended list of teams beyond the Lakers and Knicks that All-Star center Anthony Davis would stay long-term upon a trade, league sources told ESPN.

One source with knowledge of the list called it a "handful" of teams.

The list doesn't include the Boston Celtics, league sources said. The Celtics are unable to trade for Davis until July 1 as long as Kyrie Irving is on the team's roster.

The Milwaukee Bucks are one of the teams on Davis' new extended list, league sources tell ESPN. Milwaukee hasn't inquired about a Davis trade, sources say, and its roster composition does make the pathway to a trade extremely difficult.

This turn of events could be an opening to help spur the Pelicans to find a deal for Davis prior to Thursday's trade deadline, league sources said. The Knicks don't have the assets to make a trade for Davis now, and the Lakers and Pelicans have yet to gain traction in talks.

This appears to be an effort on the part of Davis and his agent, Rich Paul of Klutch Sports, to facilitate a deal prior to Thursday's 3 p.m. ET deadline, and spare a prolonged stay into the offseason for Davis with the franchise.

Davis, who requested a trade a week ago, can't become a free agent until July of 2020. He informed the Pelicans that he wouldn't sign a five-year, $239M super max contract.

Milwaukee seems like such a random choice. I guess maybe to be on a competitive team closer to home (Chicago). If he's looking at competitors and not Boston, then maybe he would consider Houston. I doubt the Pelicans would move him to a division rival though.
