While that sounds good in saying, in actuality, it only means we are better than 4 other teams. I do get the sentiment though. Still, if we cant manage an appearance in the ALCS, then things will feel like a failure.
By that logic, making the ALCS merely means you beat another team 3 times in 5 games or less. At this point, with this nucleus, every year they fall short will “feel” like they didn’t meet their goal.
The sentiment I meant was that for a team aspiring to win the World series, a division win doesn't mean that much.
My sentiment is that Astros are WS contenders as is. Let the record show that you are the one that brought up 4 teams in the division. Granted, every division winner is more or less a WS contender.
No ****. I highly doubt anybody is hosting any division winning parties any time soon... nor are they even bothering to hang division winning banners (let alone "division series championship" banners) anymore.
I hope Whitley turns into a multiple Cy Young winner and multiple time Astros World Champion But F him when it comes to basketball, glad Morey whipped his ass
Yeah, totally. But, then again, if he and his Spurs fandom helps us win over more fans from the San Antonio area, I guess I can live with that.
Easy there. The kid grew up in San Antonio all his life and probably never live a day in Houston so why should he give a damn about the Rockets.
I will say, of course San Antonians are proud of the Spurs. Only show in town, even though it's a big city and definitely deserves to have NFL as well (IMO). And, while in some ways it's nice when sports teams in the same city support each other, you have to remember that they're all independent organizations. And sometimes I do think it is kinda nice to see the athletes just be themselves, rather than try and earn brownie points with their fanbase. But I will say, I dislike how on Twitter, he specifically targets the Rockets. It's one thing to be pro-Spurs, but it's another to be as specifically anti-Rockets as he is. Not asking him to change, but I do hope that part will die down soon.
Agreed. I don’t like the Spurs myself but their fans are proud and can be very obnoxious toward other professional teams in Texas, ala Cowboys fans. I do think once he get to the major and lived in Houston, his dislike toward the Rockets will die down.
As long as a player helps the Astros (or Texans or Rockets) win a championship, I don't care where their other sport team loyalty lies. EDIT (and even if they don't help win a championship, I don't care)
Didn’t say he should If he grew up in Utah, rooted for the Jazz and was so outwardly anti-Rockets, I’d feel the same way Like I said, I want him to dominate and I’ll root for him all the way F the Spurs though
I love me some Gattis. One of my favorite players ever. Sucks that he is probably looking at a minor league deal and may never play in the majors again despite a career wRC+ of 110 and hitting 25 dingers last season.
Me too And I’ll be honest, if he has to settle for a minor league contract with an invite to ST I hope it’s right here in Houston. Never know how the spring will go with injuries and so forth. As much as I love him I wouldn’t guarantee him any money, but I’d damn sure give him a minor deal with an invite
A little dramatic, no? You don't think he'll ever play in the majors again? I love the guy and wish he was just a little better at something so that it would be worth keeping him.
