it's not just the CP3 contract is bad, it's the whole negotiation of the CP3 Trade too. We gave up too many assets to get a guy who would had likely signed with us anyways.
I'm long past knee jerk reactions with all these nonstop changing lineups these past 2 years. All I ask is please don't get Mr. Ima Bitinconsistent or Mr. Dee Fenseaintmything.
Daryl Morey is a very good GM. The problem is that Daryl has never been allowed to rebuild and it has put him at a severe disadvantage. Win or lose, once this window for the Rockets is complete, I hope Morey gets to rebuild from the bottom up.
A lot of the changing line ups this year have been injury related. I will say I find it annoying that Morey always leans on the trade deadline.
Morey just had a HORRIBLE summer he was thirsting after scrub Melo for no reason...we lost wing depth and still haven’t adequately replenished it he really hurt himself with that Ryno contract...that 20 mil worth of potential production just keeps getting transferred from scrub to scrub...Knight and Chriss are both useless
We will always have changing lineups as long as CP3, EGO, and Nene are on our team, and I realize that, with their knee, back, hamstring problems, and needed rest. But, we also keep trying to fit a team around James with no luck, because we settle for mediocre guys off other people's benches. I agree, it is annoying that Morey always leans on the trade deadline. I just hope he pulls off the move of all moves but am not holding my breath.
He is a very good GM, but he did get lucky. David stern saved him from ending up with Pau + Nene. He is lucky Melo did not not sign here for the max. He is lucky bosh didn't sign here which would have probably included resigning parsons. He is lucky OKC's owner was cheap and then 3 or 4 other GMs passed on the harden trade. His drafting hasn't been that great. The one think he does better than any gm is not signing bad contracts (except cp3) and constantly be willing to make moves. That is how he got harden.
Honestly, I don't care how he is rated. I just want to win a Championship, and so far he hasn't gotten us the team to do it.
The Pau/Nene signing was 7-8 years ago and it is hard to know how that would have played out. The Rockets were going to have other assets and players to add to that team as well. The Bosh signing wouldn’t have been as crippling as it sounded because the league took his contract off the cap. Carmelo Anthony signing with Rockets would have been a mixed bag. I view the Paul trade as a positive. We don’t sniff the WCF or set the franchise win record without him. This year we don’t make the playoffs without him or have a punchers chance of coming out of the West. There is a real chance Harden doesn’t sign an extension either. Morey isn’t perfect. He passed on Leonard and took Morris. Years later we are seeing Morris reach his talent level but he isn’t ever going to be Leonard. Still his drafting overall has been solid, remember he has not had many good picks to work with. I really hope he gets to rebuild a team from the ground up. He would be excellent at asset management and surprise people with his drafting ability.
