Morey is just too smart for his own good. He over analyzed this team to mediocrity. Its a simple game and his over analytical mind has doomed this team with a personel that does not match the philosophy. Now he is over here trying get rid of a first for jamychal green. Can the guy hit threes? Lose a first for a pure shooter in mirotic or something.
idk but House is our best shooter and one of our better defenders but somehow we refuse to add him probably because it'll cost Tilman too much $
Ok, what's next Morey? Losing with the bench of the Knicks? Losing by 357 points against a team with a losing record? Allow 110 points in one half?
it's seriously ridiculous. i'm not saying we give him MLE money but god damn not signing him has cost us 4 games at least.
The other thing that I noticed is that we never have bright, upcoming new faces on this team. It's always overpaid, semi-old, worn out veterans that Morey goes after, because I don't know it's less risky? Outside of Capela, Morey has a horrific track record of cultivating young players with potential, and his draft history is mediocre at best. This is one of the main job requirements for a GM, and Morey is objectively bad at it.
Morey literally drafts and signs players using an algorithm instead of using the eye test. It probably doesn't factor in age and injuries either.
I’m like the biggest Morey fan on earth but this defensive fall off is inexcusable. I haven’t given up on him but we need at least 3-4 defense players at the deadline.
I would rather have older, more proven players / players with more experience than an up-and-coming fresh face. Since the name of the game is analytics, it's probably easier to predict how a Chris Paul will turn out in X years, rather than a De'Anthony Melton will eventually turn out in X years. For every Jayson Tatum, you get a Jonny Flynn. Gotta take the successes with the failures.
Morey likes 3pt shooting so much. But he collects a bunch of brickers for us. No Rockets player has over 40% 3pt shooting rate. I dont know what the hell he is doing.
He’s a good GM, one of my all time favorites in any sport, but not over the last year or so. The Chris Paul signing and subsequent roster issues associated with that, and with Ryan Anderson, will probably get him fired. At the moment, this is a pretty bad roster. The next week or two will likely seal his fate one way or the other. I’m pulling for the guy, but at the moment I’m not particularly optimistic.
I feel like GM should be able to build depth and versatile roster. Under him always whole team is old/slow/3pointshooters/3&d
That’s true it’s safer going into the playoffs with vets. But having a few up and coming players on good contracts can you put you in a good position when stars under 30 come available. I thought we had turned that corner when we had dekker, harell, Capela. We still have time with house but he could’ve been getting his value up right now.
