sounds good to say but is that like when melo came to the knicks and others followed?

this is an era of social media. guys who want to market themselves are able to do so on their own if they choose. guys want to win and be part of a well run organization. the media market thing is a bit overstated on the list of priorities imo

Since 2010 30+ nba players that have torn their ACL have never made it to an All Star game according to Dallas sports radio

Sure however 2/5 potential NY star targets this season are easilly mentally swayed.
Teams are up to all kinds of shenanigans, and dark deals. I read that Toronto probably hired journalists to harass Kawhi in LA to make it less appealing to him.
When you have such an easy target as Dolan in your team, at such a crucial position, you are open to slandering campaigns.
It wont take much , just revealing some of his usual behaviour and the little bit of dignity the Knicks have built will go down the drain.

They wanted to clear cap space. We couldn't give them expirings to wipe out all of the contracts they had on the books. That's all this deal really was about for them.

I’ve thought about it and this trade favors the knicks this season.

The Mavs, although they have some interesting, young, cheap players, have essentially set their team for the next few years. It may work out of KP stays healthy and returns to his previous level, but the Mavs will lose flexibility.

Heres to really hoping Porzingis signs the qualifying offer and phallus is stuck holding their phallus.

I'm with Mike Vaccaro (of the NY Post) on this trade:

It’s almost a stretch to call this a gamble: This is beyond a gamble. This is borderline reckless, and the only thing keeping it straddling that border is the notion that at the close of business Thursday, the Knicks are the proud owners of $74.6 million in salary-cap space, which shakes out to two max free-agent deals.

Of course, that begs a couple of questions:

    1. If you are any of those three free agents, what about the Knicks, as currently constituted, makes them even remotely appealing?

    2. Wasn’t one of the only appealing things about the Knicks the possibility of teaming with KP?

    3. Is there any reason to feel at all confident that Scott Perry and Steve Mills are even remotely capable of pulling off a parlay like this?

    4. Would you feel confident in entrusting the prime of your career here?

The bottom line is that the NYK have become the same sort of sports scam like the Cows have ben for two decades now. It's going to be really funny watching this thing crash and burn.

Now that we know about the picks (one unprotected and one top 10 protected), I think it's a fair trade. Sucks that it's Dallas, but NY avoided a lot of drawn out drama and are in position to sign superstars or use that cap space to absorb expiring contracts with picks. If Daryl Morey were given the keys to the Knicks at this moment, he would inevitably turn them into a long term contender. It's on the management. They also have a nice collection of players they can develop (Knox, Robinson, Dotson, DSJ, Mudiay, Ntilikina, Trier). It's likely 3 of those guys will end up VERY solid role players, and maybe one of them exceeds current expectations.

Dallas also took a gamble but a good one. They owe 3 serious picks, are carrying several bloated contracts but have 2 cornerstones in place. If Porzingis' health is solid, they will be very exciting next season although with a limited ceiling. I would be worried, but we own all our picks and by this summer Gordon/Knight are expiring so we are in good position to make one more upgrade while they're not.
