Does DJ still want to come home? We passed on him at least twice, didn't we?

We didn't pass on him. We could never afford him.

2nd pass: I was thinking there was some chatter on here that we could have gone after him instead of re-upping Clint.
1st pass: I can't remember (prob didn't exist like you said)

that's resigning your own player who's better and younger. cf's just made their own rumor about DJ being willing to sign for cheap and be a backup to clint. and for whatever reason, some people ran with it

We didn't have the cap space to sign Deandre unless he was going to take a huge paycut. We signed Capela using bird rights. Getting Deandre was never really an option with CP3, Gordon, and Harden making 90 million dollars this year. That is not including Ryan Anderson/Brandon Knights salary.

I’m starting to get the feeling you don’t like Capela much.

Which is very silly because they are similar players.

He's ok. Can't help us win a championship because he's overpaid for his skill set and we need his salary to acquire the right skill set to win it all.

Yeah, I mean running Anderson out of town because of his salary and injury really paid off. Let’s pretend like Capela’s grow on trees and struggle all of next year to find his replacement too.

They say since he's close with Durant, Knicks might want him to stick around and do some recruiting which - if successful - would net him a nice role player contract. Sounds Knicks-level dumb, so it worries me.

His history suggests he can play the "diva" card and demand a buyout. I have faith

I can understand the argument that capela will not be effective against Golden State but I think the argument that he's overpaid for his skill set is pretty incorrect. A statement born out of pushing a narrative.

A player that young, with that many physical gifts and such a track record of consistent improvement more than warrants that contract.
