It’s all relative to spending flexibility, but I don’t love the idea of bringing back Keuchel and Marwin either. Love them both forever, but I’d like to see what else is available.

Not much left as far as free agent relievers...

Xavier Cedeno, Tony Sipp, Ryan Madson (awful last year), Dan Jennings, Tyler Clippard, Adam Warren, Sergio Romo, etc.

I would rather sign Wade Miley or Clay Bucholtz to slide Peacock or McHugh back into the bullpen.

Well, it won’t happen, but there’s a guy named Kimbrel out there still.

So in one post you go from "the best bargain and value might be signing a RP or two" to mentioning possibly one of the most expensive relievers ever...

    How about.....

    NO

I also agree on no to Kimbrel. My only point is that your list was a little short.

Whether it’s via FA or trade, I think the cost of a RP might be what we are after.

Love his stuff but he is a walk machine.

    31 walks in 53 innings

You mentioned "sign" originally so I went with free agents and not trade candidates. Yes, a trade makes more sense.

Here's the list of free agent relievers from MLBtraderumors... I don't see much better than what I said. I didn't mention Bud Norris because he trashed Luhnow and the Astros on the Singelton contract.

    Right-Handed Relievers

    John Axford (36)
    Tony Barnette (35)
    Matt Belisle (39)
    Christian Bergman (31)
    Brad Boxberger (31)
    Blaine Boyer (37)
    Santiago Casilla (38)
    Tyler Clippard (34)
    Erik Goeddel (30)
    Chris Hatcher (34)
    Daniel Hudson (32)
    Jim Johnson (36)
    Craig Kimbrel (31)
    Ryan Madson (38)
    Peter Moylan (40)
    Bud Norris (34)
    AJ Ramos (32)
    Sergio Romo (36)
    Fernando Salas (34)
    Drew Storen (31)
    Junichi Tazawa (33)
    Nick Vincent (32)
    Adam Warren (31)
    Alex Wilson (32)
    Blake Wood (33)

    Left-Handed Relievers

    Jerry Blevins (35)

Tony Sipp had a pretty damn good year last year from what I remember without googling. If so, why is the lefty still unsigned? I mean not even a 1 year contract?

I'm sure plenty of teams have offered one year deals.

But he's holding out for a multi year deal, and after the last multi year deal he signed teams are understandably no going for it. If no good deal appears then Sipp will take whatever his best offer is.

Yup. The guy likes being closer to home but if i were betting, I strongly believe he will be with the Rangers after 2019.

Signing Keuchel to a two year deal is our best option right now. I wouldn't go 3 years.
Not expecting Keuchel to be a 1-2 starter but he did pitch 200 innings last year.

I would like to extend Verlander two years and take a chance on his age. I think he is a Nolan Ryan, curt schilling type(guys who can pitch with success later in age) and will give you two more solid years.
Maybe not sub 3 era but sub 4 era.
Also be nice to have around for the young pitchers coming up.

We wont be able to sign Cole. If he has another year like last year, everyone will want him.

That's close enough to a haiku that you should have done one. Be better.

AJ Ramos and Brad Boxberger are the only relievers that were closers and had a low era, affordable contracts.

Ramos is hurt and won’t be back until the 2nd half at earliest.

Here’s my order of preference for available free agent relievers:

    Multi year deal:
    Kimbrel (<$50M)

    1 yr deal:
    Diekman
    Boxberger
    Sipp
    Loup
    Warren
    Blevins
    Madson
    Romo
    Axford
    Hudson
    Benoit
    Clippard
    Norris
