    I think having a bs in physics is more relevant to understanding climate science than what ever the **** you are educated with.

    Climate science is essentially the study of a system that involves fluids which follow thermodynamic cycles and fluid mechanics. A physicist has the math and physics background to actually understand the system of differential equations used to model the climate that climate scientists use. It's not a foreign language to them like it would be to you.

    No, he isn't a subject matter expert but he certainly can understand it.

    And yes, I've looked into the individual you reference. His entire argument has nothing to do with science. It's entirely predicated on a notion that climate change proponents are Marxist.

    From his dabbling in other matters such as race, he seems like the edgelord type who abides by the "any press is good press" mantra. You seem to have a difficult time in distinguishing edgelords vs sincere individuals with legitmate claims .

    His physics qualifications has no relevence here because he isn't making a claim that climate scientists are wrong based in their math being incorrect. He's claiming that climate scientists want a marxist revolution.

    He was an assistant professor at Harvard in theoretical physics and has one published paper. That doesn't qualify one to be a climate scientist. Look, the only thing that's useful from my physics degree is that I can still read climate science studies and make sense of them if I put the time in - and it's not a small investment of time.

    The science is quite convincing and like I said, the spin you hear on the left are things that wouldn't even be brought up by anyone who has looked at the research - it's easily debunked in other words.

    So when you put forward someone who is saying the earth is flat, and then cry that we're being closed minded for not listening - you aren't making a strong argument.

    I'm honestly not making an argument, other than my normal one that it behooves EVERYONE to pay attention to a diversity of sources and authorities. Just because Motl is not a "climate scientist" does not mean everything that comes out of his mouth is bullshit. Just because someone has a Phd in theoretical physics doesn't mean they're not qualified to discuss and evaluate science as a social institution . . . i.e., to think and speak philosophically about the sociology and philosophy of science, as well as the politics of science. On that score, I'd hazard the guess that Motl is exceedingly well qualified to speak. And I disagree with your comparing him to a flat earther-- that was PRECISELY why I asked if you knew him. The Rutgers Phd automatically qualifies him to speak on science in a way that the generic flat earther is NOT qualified to speak.

    Not related to climate science. Mechanical
    engineering. Grad student currently. I trust the majority of climate scientists and what they have to say about the climate.

    Maybe we can get a climate scientist to give a damn accurate 5 day forecast before moving on to bigger things. I’m kinda thinking that after a huge volcanic eruption all bets are off in the global warming debate but I’m no scientist or mechanical engineer(that has an overwhelmingly amount of time to post on a consistent basis in a forum btw).

    Climate scientists aren't responsible for 5 day forcasts.

    Haha this fool thinks climate and weather are the same thing, why even engage him?

    Sometimes I wonder if these type of posters are sincere or just playing some character.

    I get that.

    Then again, if the options are that he's an idiot or a troll, it's a lost cause to begin with.

    My bad climate has nothing to do with weather. Did I say they gave forecasts?

    The difference between weather and climate is a measure of time. Weather is what conditions of the atmosphere are over a short period of time, and climate is how the atmosphere "behaves" over relatively long periods of time.
    Stick that up your ass.

    Just a brief primer to help people understand the warmists better:

    Summer = Man-made climate change
    Winter = Just weather

    No not really. Meteorologists are not considering mass flow rates of carbon dioxide or methane or other effects. Totally different models.

    Still short term predicting versus long term which goes back to my initial statement. In words the Pizza dude can understand, I don’t give a **** if it’s here in 30 minutes or less just get my ****ing order right.
