The Trump White House remains adamant that it is moving ahead with a wall, hopefully with the Democrats cooperation, but if the Democrats cannot manage that, then without it.

Trump restated Friday night that if a negotiated agreement cannot be reached with the Democrats, then "we'll do the emergency, because that's what it is".

The president indicated Friday that if lawmakers do not offer funding for a wall when the three-week measure ends on Feb. 15, another shutdown could begin or he could declare an emergency to build the wall.

“We’ll work with the Democrats and negotiate, and if we can’t do that, then we’ll do a – obviously we’ll do the emergency because that’s what it is. As a point of reference, the three week funding extension that temporarily cancelled the partial government shutdown ends on February 15, 2019.

 

That's awfully nice of Speaker of the House Pelosi, or as trump likes to call her, Nancy, to invite trump to the House Chamber. I hope his teleprompter works better this time.

• there will be no SOTU when the Gov is shutdown
• there will no SOTU on Tue, 29 Jan 2019, as originally scheduled, even after the shutdown has ended
• SOTU will be postponed to 5 Feb, to which the compliant Trump accepts
