Yep. This is how the Rockets can do it.

Pelicans may not have much use for Capela or Gordon but other teams do. Bad teams that AD won't resign for so they have no shot at AD but can get in on this help us out. Still a long shot though.

If you're a GM that's going to deal your franchise player, would you want an aging superstar that's been hampered by a hamstring issue that's owed another 3 years $120 million ? If the Pelicans couldn't fill seats with AD what makes Paul a more attractive ticket draw?

I get it; we all want AD. We'd give up anything outside of Harden for AD but what we have anything outside of Harden is not that attractive. You have Capela because he's young, good and on a cheap contract, you have 4 picks spread across 8 years and then you have aging vets. That's it.

Daryl is no doubt working the phones hard on this. But whether or not we're able to acquire Davis I think this is an exciting development. If the Pelicans do trade Davis then they'll be joining Memphis in the tank-a-thon. More tanking teams means more players who are potentially available via trade or in the buyout market. I like Mirotic, E'Twuan Moore and Darius Miller in New Orleans. JaMychal Green, Kyle Anderson and Garrett Temple in Memphis could all help us. None of these guys were as available a few weeks ago as they are now. Might be another team or two joining them in the next couple weeks too.

    Come on dude.
You should know Pelicans would have no interest in taking CP3. Makes no sense.

This. There are pieces that can be sold off after AD gets traded that fills a few of our needs and most likely do not require a liquidation of all of our assets.

I think a lot of people underrates the value of Capela in a trade here, he's at worse a 24 years old elite role player signed for 5 years getting 15/19M per season, guys as good as him are getting paid 10M more, he's getting the same money guys like Knight/Anderson, Mozgov, Bazemore, Ariza, Marvin Williams etc are making.

Sure, he isn't a franchise player, but who's going to offer a franchise player for Davis here? And whether the Pelicans go into a full or quick rebuild, Capela is still a great piece to get, locked on a great contract for 4 more years, still young...they could very well tank this season and rebuild around a top 5 pick, Capela, Holiday, Mirotic, Randle and another young player we might send them by movign Gordon and picks.

Do the Pelicans want to stay relevant though?

They may want to tear it all down and rebuild at this point.

But again, Pels may not want CP3 but other teams may.

Teams like the Hornets or Knicks may give up an asset for a player like CP3 that could help in getting AD.

That and selling the Pels that they should F the Lakers for tampering with them (because they really really should) could help us out.

Small market teams should really stick together and make it a thing that if you tamper with our players then we won't deal with you. They really should. Otherwise what stops this from happening to NOP again?

sure capela has value. doesn't mean it's enough for AD. capela's value is maximized in this system and on this team. not so much on others and I think for the most part, teams know that. everyone here values capela very much, outside of 1 obvious person who still tries to tear him down for whatever reason

Agree with this, but we wouldn't offer only Capela, or at least that's what i guess, it would be something like Capela, Gordon (or young player/pick by a third team) and multiple 1st rounders. Probably not enough to get a deal done (and tbh, not even sure it would be worth it for us), but pretty sure it would be enough to be in the conversation.

Capela is a good piece to be sure......but a team like Boston could offer comparable talent to Capela but in more players.

that could be a decent package, but to me packages that the lakers/boston could offer are ones that would catch the pelicans eye first. It'll probably help if information was put out on what the pels are actually looking for in a deal.
