Do you think AD or his agent really care about any of that? If anything, they made the trade demand now so that the Lakers are in the best position to trade for him, knowing they can sign another star in the summer.

Absolutely not. The hell would they want CP3s contract for?!?!

    Capela + Gordon + 3 First Rounders

Houston's issue is we don't have young talent to offer. While Gordon is perfectly fine trade asset, he doesn't do anything for the Pels.

Anthony Davis for Ben Simmons, however...

Exactly, unless they get an absolute home run offer......and I don't see it out there realistically.....they will wait. A lot can change in that time period. NO might swing a big trade to become more competitive and Davis sings another tune.

NO could do WAY better than anything the Rockets could seriously offer. I'd hang up on any Houston call that didn't start with Harden. NO holds ALL the cards.

This is not true. I stated why a few posts above.
ADs camp can say things like “whoever we’re traded to this summer we’ll leave in a year if it’s not L.A.”
You can say teams won’t care but they will.
They may have to strike a deal now with LA when they can use the leverage of “if you don’t give us everything we want we wait until the summer and talk to Boston”. It works both ways.

    @amaru

Going over everything I’ve considered, I’d say there is a 50% chance he gets traded by Feb 7

Lakers are stingy and would want to keep kuzma in a deal for davis because they want a young shooter on a good deal next to bron and AD.

I would say that the Rockets have zero chance to get him but Capela, Ego, and a multitude of 1sts might do it.

    Harden/Davis/Paul/Tucker/Rivers/Manimal/Nene/Clark.

Would Davis single handedly replace Ego/Capela production?

Disagree. Davis has 2 more seasons left on the books. No real difference trading him this season or next season.

Lmao if I’m a Lakers fan I would drive Kuzma to the airport.

I love Capela as much as the next person on this board but his value is tied to who he plays with. Until Clint has an opportunity to do what he's doing without Harden or CP3, his value won't be as high for other teams.

1 more season after this. He can opt out
    That’s a huge difference.

Yep, but the bigger news is he's demanding a trade to a contender. He's making a power move, sorta like Antonio Brown is trying to do, without the divaness.

The longer he remains a Pel, the more toxic this situation becomes now that it's been leaked to the media and the fanbase.

Huge difference for teams who can convince players to sign with them and play next to davis, it gives teams an opportunity and off season to build around davis to convince him to resign. You trade for him next year and you only have one trade deadline to try to get lucky with the right deal and make it work.

You are very correct. More to the point, there is precedent for trading for these types of expiring players -- Paul George, Kahwi Leonard.

We're talking AD...it's worth the gamble.

Imagine Morey can get Bazemore with Knight's contract + picks. Would he offer then Capela + Gordon for Davis? Hmmm, could be, could be.

    Paul - Rivers
    Harden - Green
    Bazemore - House?
    Tucker - Ennis - Clark
    Davis - Faried - Nene

I'm confident Capela would be a very productive player alongside Holiday.

Capela is a fantastic young player and a underpaid asset filling a major void. They likely wouldn’t replace him by drafting in ten years
