This House case just remined me how Dmo got screwed by Morey. How much did we offer to Dmo again? And much is he earning now?

Rockets matched Brooklyn’s offer of 4yr/31 million (Brooklyn offered 35 millions but 4 millions were bonuses Houston did not have to match)

Probably half the money a soccer star would make in the Chinese league.

Demo screwed himself just like House is screwing himself now. Looks like both are getting bad advice from their agents.

It is a negotiation, why do people feel the need to get up in his business?

This is between him and the Rockets reaching out and telling him what he should take is classless.

Unreal, let Morey and House do their jobs.

    Sheesh.

House should say sorry, otherwise I think Morey give him another chance. I suggest he accepts the offer provided by Morey.

I give House a lot of credit.

Clutchfans always needs a polarizing figure that people make far too many threads about. McGrady, Lin, Dwight, Motiejunas, Melo.... House.

Thank you, Danuel for sacrificing your season to keep the mob busy.

What’s wrong with a player comparing himself to anyone? A lot of players do it.

House's 45 days came up at a moment when the Rockets were stretched exceptionally thin. His agent had leverage at that moment, and tried to use it. Morey declined to go higher, counted on Gordon and then Paul coming back, and in the interim improvised with Nunnally and snagged Faried. You could say that the Rockets organization "bet on itself."

It's possible that as the leverage situation turns in Morey's favor, House will accept the previous offer. It's also possible that House has dug in and won't accept it. And in the offseason he may be vindicated. We don't yet know what else Morey will come up with in the buyout/trade market, with the money House was holding out for. So both bets could pay off.

One more thing: I have infinite faith that hundreds of people in this forum who have been screaming for us to pay House would castigate Morey if House, having collected a significant guaranteed payday, then performed below what he showed in the 45 days. Which was a highly plausible scenario, given his age and the limits of his performance to date.

A lot of us have suggested that if House doesn't blink, then Morey should convert to get the benefit of him this year. That would be the minimum and would not hamstring the team. I agree that there may still be a deal or maybe Morey has moved on.

We don't have any evidence that the front office is being spiteful. They offered a 3 year guaranteed contract to a guy who has been trying to get a contract for 3 years.

I don't think there's spite on either side.... yet.

Agree with everything here. At the time this contract situation came up, the Rockets organization was being leveraged by an agent who saw an injury depleted team in need of bodies and I'm sure he was playing the "he's a starter" card. The only reason House was even called up in the first place was due to injuries. The injuries provided the opportunity that credit to him, he was able to take advantage of and be successful. That success was parlayed into a guaranteed contract offer. Success story right?

Additionally, if Morey is able to acquire another wing like Bazemore, Taurean Prince, KCP, etc., House will have quite possibly blown a huge opportunity here because the opportunity he took advantage of due to injuries that allowed him big minutes will be gone. With Harden Gorden, CP3, Rivers, (New Guy), Tucker, Capela, and Faried that is 8 guys which is about what coach likes to stick with. This is without even giving minutes to Green and Ennis. Now I admittedly, like House more than Green and Ennis and think he can move ahead of them in the rotation, but when this team is fully healthy, he is potentially the 9th man in the rotation and that means he will only get spot minutes at best. Some nights 10 minutes, some 20, and some nothing at all. I hope things can be reconciled because I do think he adds something to the team, but there is certainly no reason to overpay a guy for that.

Here some Michael Young as a pro. Same height, about the same weight, spin-move-then-shot, about the same hops
and slow release. Biggest difference i see is Michael Young took more inefficient mid range shots.....or House restrained
against taking more (Houston frowned against them).

Allegedly, they offered him a 3 year non-guaranteed contract first. Clark's contract is only guaranteed if he plays in two playoff games. I think that is unfair too. If Harden didn't lift up the team, we would have crashed.

I don't see how that shows spite. That shows tough negotiating.

The Rockets have nearly $100M tied up in Paul, Harden, and Capela for the next 3 years.

There's no room for emotion at the negotiating table with journeyman players.

All I'm saying is that House was better than that, and somewhat better than Ennis too, who is on a 1.6M contract with a player option, next season.
