He's an athletic, long, 6'9 player who was shooting 43% from 3 and blocking a ton of shots. He a walking prototype of what we want in our frontcourt. Without having watched him play, the fact that Morey wasn't all over him tells me just how many things he must still have been doing wrong.
This is all House fault, we would've Bruno on a 2 way deal now if House would've signed the Rockets offer
Now that Bruno has 2 years of NBA experience, and another 2 years, that is a total of 2 years and 2 years. He is ready according to ESPN.
Sadly, operating in lux tax territory made that prohibitively expensive without being able to dump Chriss' guaranteed salary. He was a victim of the Ryan Anderson trade, in which we turned one useless roster spot into two.
Caboclo is a wing. He has grown as a wing, he thinks and plays like a wing. Only his size, wingspan, make coaches try him at PF-C. But he doesn't know how to defend a p&r as a big, he doesn't know how to bang inside, block out or get the position for a rebound, how to protect the paint with good timing and presence... He is tall and long, but is a wing. He was tried as a big here and didn't work out. I would have loved to see him proved as a small foward. He can shoot and his size could have made a difference there. With a player like him, I see easier to teach him how to guard wings, how to use his length and not being surpassed off the dribble, than to change his position and overall approach of the game. That's very difficult to do at his age. Something similar to Chriss, his potential is more like a stretch PF who is also athletic and can play above the rim, but he is atrocious as a center. No clue of how to be effective at the usual plays of a center during a game, has not been coached as a kid for that. Doesn't know how to use his body, does not understand positioning, he's not tough by nature and will tend to elude contact, etc.
Attention "we should've kept Bruno and developed him" crowd: What syllable in "Win Now Mode" are you struggling to comprehend?
The expectation for Ennis was a solid starter at the beginning of the season, thats why we are pretty disappointed at Ennis. If you have the same expectation for Bruno, pretty sure you will be disappointed as well, at least for now.
