thought-provoking article about the media coverage of the incident, particularly about the NY Times: "Are The Only Racists The NYT Isn’t Sympathetic To White Racists?" http://thefederalist.com/2019/01/25/racists-nyt-isnt-sympathetic-white-racists/
Very clearly not true. They weren't "killing time". They were trying to counter the people yelling nasty stuff at them. If you can't even retell the basic mostly irrelevant facts without shading them to make them sound more innocent... In any case following this logic, as long as a black man approaches me I am morally justified in using the n word to his face? It's only inappropriate if I approach him first? Good to know.
Hahaha nice deflection. You are grasping for straws and people who understand what edgy teens are just aren't buying it. The Indian guy started shouting things like go back to Europe to the minors. That's the act of a racist. Stop abusing the R word for your personal agenda. You continue to push false narratives with your far left lens and bias.
So racist behavior towards Native Americans, is fundamentally more acceptable than racist behavior toward African Americans? Your logic seems to be that it is OK to be racist to Native Americans if they approach you, but if you approach them there is a different standard of appropriate behavior. I'm trying to rap my mind around that thinking with a parallel situation, i.e. the same situation involving African Americans instead of Native Americans. If the African American approaches you as a white man, racism is cool. If you approach them, however, respect is the order of the day.
You guys have been saying the exact same thing for 7 days and gotten nowhere. Only 28 days to go to match Trump.
Teenagers laughing at a Native America, mocking him by chanting a "native American war chant" and mocking him by mimicking the so-called "tomahawk chop"? Are you seriously saying you need to know what they meant by such disrespectful actions? SMH. When Yuli Gurriel pulled the end of his eyes at Yu Darvish... it was also clear what he intended. Its was offensive, he was suspended, and he reached out to the Dodger pitcher and apologized. Seems odd that people, in their partisan obsession to defend trump, will ignore such unacceptable behavior. As I have said throughout, if some responsible adult chaperoning the teenagers had acted responsibly and asked the kids to apologize and its quite possible Mr. Phillips and the teenagers would have had a learning opportunity. Instead, a huge controversy, people getting threatened, school closing for a day, and now people digging into past histories with the sole intent to to besmirch the other (weirdly as a defense of their own "side").
Rosa Parks, TOTALLY could have left that bus at any time. What a goldbricker. Fake news media owes the City of Montgomery an apology. I read a very serious tweet indicating that they are talking about suing for defamation.
Yeah, Rosa Parks is who immediately springs to mind when I think of Phillips.... FWIW, when I first saw just the clip, my reaction was what a bunch of ahole kids. And, I did think that the kid who just stood there was smirking and was somehow trying to antagonize Phillips. Now,with more information, it seems like there were jerks all around. But, the kids, both by virtue of being kids and by their actions compared to the other camps, seem the least culpable. Seriously, what adult pounds a drum right in front of someone's face? In what context is that invasion of personal space appropriate or not seen as intimidating? I don't believe all of the kids acted perfectly. But it sure does seem like some posters are willing to accept abhorrent behavior against young adults based on the young adults wearing MAGA hats.
The point is, the fact that he could leave at any time has absolutely nothing to do with whether the kids were mocking him. I keep seeing all of these bits of "evidence" that are completely irrelevant to evaluating the kids behavor. For instance, that one kid said "leave him alone" means that he felt the need to say it to another kid. If kids are behaving themselves other kids dont have to tell them to leave people alone.
He was telling him not to engage the douchebags who were banging drums and shouting racist rhetoric, essentially telling his friend not to stoop to the pathetic level of the 2 racist groups that were attacking the children. It's funny that so many people want to frame Phillips as a "noble savage" while ignoring what actually happened.
Why are you spending so much time trying to find ways to denounce the kids rather than the BHI or Phillips and his group? The kids don't look great on the portion of the video with Phillips but they had already spent a lot of time getting attacked by the BHI. Phillips has proven himself to be 1) a liar about what happened that day; 2) a liar or at best willing to allow a false story to be told about his "service in Vietnam"; 3) the aggressor by approaching the kids; and 4) the aggressor by banging a drum in the kid's face. Given all that was going on, the kids -- who weren't angels -- were actually pretty restrained compared to the abuse that was being heaped on them.
This is still a thang? Damn. Our country does need to fail if we care so much about dumb **** like this.
It serves as a pretty good example of how locked in people are to their views. Some people changed their views as more evidence came out. Others doubled down. Pretty good example of the divide in our country and why it is so difficult to bridge that divide.
Snowflakes on both sides? Yea. This is why we need euthanasia. If this bothers you, press the red button.
