I'm not in favor of this. I like Ariza but I would not give up a 1st round pick for him. I think you are overrating him to some extent. Prince and Dedmon would be nice on the Rockets.
If a 3 and d player is what this team lacks, then has anyone mentioned the best 3 and d player in the league - Robert Covington? Wolves are teetering on the edge of trying to makes the playoffs and falling off again. Tyus Jones is another Wolves player that the Rockets have rumored interest in. Covington + Jones for Knight + filler + the multiple picks Morey mentioned?
But even assuming they'll fall in the standings, which is not a given, why would they move Covington? He's 28, still on a good/long contract, and he's like the only good defender they have. I don't really see them moving him unless they get an amazing offer, and i don't really see us moving multiple 1st rounders for him, we were willing to do that for a star like Butler, but that's a different scenario obviously. On paper, we could offer a couple of 1st instead of three if we match the salary with Chriss, Nene, Ennis...i guess, but i still don't see us moving two 1st rounders for him and the Wolves being insterested in that kind of deal... I think it would be much easier to get a guy like Oubre (although maybe/probably not as good as a fit), Phoenix has other players in the same spot, probably not interested in taking the risk to match some awful offers next summer...Chriss/Nene is enough salary to send out to take him back, a 1st rounder should be enough value to please Phoenix...and i actually wonder if we could somehow get Melton in a deal with Phoenix since i don't think we signed him before the Anderson trade... Like, i'd rather do: Chriss/Nene + 1st rounder + 2nd rounder/s for Oubre + Melton than: Knight + three 1st rounders or Chriss + Nene + Ennis + two 1st rounders for Covington ...again, assuming the Wolves would be interested in that sort of trade, personally i think they are not.
Seems like only the usual suspects, the ones that are too far gone to think playoffs. Memphis finally threw in the towel, and maybe Orlando. Other teams SHOULD think along those lines but sometimes they’ll win a game or two and be within striking distance of the playoffs in the East (the seventh and eighth spots being of piss-poor winning records). Washington would be a prize candidate for trades but, alas, they play better without their injured about-to-pull-down-maximum-maximum-money John Wall. EDIT: Forgot to type the word “without” in the last sentence. Saturday morning, coffee hadn’t kicked in.
The Wolves would rather move Wiggins than Covington who is on a team friendly long term deal at a league wide position of need. I like Covington and his contract but I'm not sure thats the player you throw multiple first round picks at.
This summer the best trade we can offer for Anthony Davis is. Clint Capela + Fillers and 4 first rounders for Anthony Davis
I wonder where Indiana's mind is right now. Do they want to keep trying to win? They are currently at a high seed, but likely not going to win anything this year. They have a ton of cap next year. We do need a starting small forward and Bojan Bogdanovic would be nice. I'd start with Knight + 2 2nd round picks for Bojan and go from there. If they say no replace the two picks with a first rd pick. Thoughts?
I wasn't really keen on him in the first place. I think his jumper isn't reliable. It's sad to hear that he got hurt though.
Personally i don't see them making that kind of moves, at least with a guy like Bojan which is someone they should resign imo, they've never been about tanking and give up on a season as a franchise. I actually expect them to be active in the trade market, they have a lot of projected cap space but i'm not sure about who they'll be able to sign in free agency, especially after what happened to Oladipo, and going forward one between Sabonis and Turner would've to get traded anyway...i guess they could go hard after guys like Harris, Middleton, Bledsoe, Mirotic...and if they strikeout maybe look to trade for guys like Conley, Love...in the end, for a team like Indy, if they end up with: Sabonis/Turner Love Bojan Oladipo Conley ...that would still be a pretty damn good starting 5.
Saleem, I would like to add, I didn’t know Spencer Dinwiddie came down with Clintus Capelitis.....messed up his hand, surgery, three to six weeks. Maybe Brooklyn will take a nosedive and go onto the list of teams throwing in the white towel.
When he came into the league it was horrible, but he has improved a lot. There are better options out there, but a lot of them have already been mentioned and our roster isn't exactly loaded with trade pieces.
Wow, I had no idea either. It would be interesting to see if they take a nosedive, but I expect them to battle on and make the playoffs as an 8th seed. Russell can hold the fort until Dinwiddie comes back.
Nene, Chriss, Knight, Edwards should be tradable Clark and Hartenstein i think need time anyone else should be market improvements. Rocket River
Do same deal with Magic/Wizards for younger players and better defenders. HOU receives: AG, Terrence Ross, Jonathon Simmons, Khem Birch ORL receives: Wall, EGo, Nene, Chriss WAS receives: Knight, Ennis, Hartenstein, 3 FRP (Rockets), 1 SRP (Magic) Rockets get multiple young lengthy athletic high effort switch defenders who will defer to Harden & CP3. Magic get their franchise PG they have coveted for almost a decade. Retain Vooch who is only Magic playing at all star level. Increase offense with EGo. Big man tutor for Bamba in Nene. Wizards dispose of chemistry killer/albatross salary in Wall (retain and build around Beal). Former lottery pick PG in Knight can contribute sooner than out for season Wall. Add rebuild pieces in 3 FRP and high SRP. Rockets starters: Harden CP3 PJ AG Capela Bench: Rivers, Ross, Faried, Simmons, Green, Birch
That would be just awesome. Unfortunately, his trade value is almost zero as a player. His 3.2M expiring contract might be useful to a team along with a decent pick.
