How about we just not have the TSA and see what happens. TSA sucks. Most of those guys probably should be working at McDonalds.

Yeah, but Air Traffic Controllers sicking out is a different story entirely. I just caught a quick blurb this morning on local news that they're just starting to up and quit.

Spreading. They aren't showing up at a regional facility which is causing issues for NYC, Phily and Newark, NJ. Apparently there are rumors of a planned walkout at Georgia airports as well ahead of the Superbowl.

Wilbur Ross has weighed in and expressed disbelief that people are worried about flights being delayed, suggesting they could charter helicopters to get to their destination while this gets sorted out.

Better to lose an airport than a plane. It looks like we need a catastrophe to break the stalemate, and I think I prefer the kind that costs millions of dollars over the kind that cost people their lives.

But CNBC is saying right now that Laguardia is opening again. I guess they got enough workers in. This will just get worse and worse though.

People have been talking about walkouts for a week or so. It's going to happen nationally in few weeks as well. Prepare accordingly but this will end the shutdown.

in the event of a widespread TSA walkout, are there any scenarios being discussed that describe Trump dealing with TSA the way Reagan dealt with the air traffic controllers? I know they are two different situations and different types of employees, but I'm wondering if there is any alternative scenario to "this will end the shutdown" that ends up with the privatizing of airport security--which apparently is how 20 or so airports in the U.S. currently deal with security.

To be clear, the issue right now is the air traffic controllers not showing up to regional offices, NOT the TSA It's already illegal under their labor agreement for ATC employees to "coordinate" an effort to not work, which is clearly what is happening here, they are just doing it under the radar.

The problem isn't the TSA. It's the traffic controllers. They are the ones that are causing the airports to delay of close. You can't privatize those.

But its not just TSA. Its air traffic controllers, FBI, Coast Guard, IRS... trump won't be able to act against all.
