But ... James Ennis has a player option A 3 year vet min deal with a player option for the last year would be a slam dunk deal for House. Keeps him out of FA this year, we keep our current MLE. The only way I'd demand no player option is if we where we giving him 3/9 deal with our current MLE, in that case, I'd want it to be a team option or just completely guaranteed.
morey gave him just to make it impossible for cf to say morey never gives player options and stay credible
I think we should just convert his contract right now and worry about next year, next year... if he doesn’t want to sign the contract fine, but take advantage of having him now!
There's a reason guys sign 2 way contracts in the first place, and it's not because they expect huge negotiating power...
Giving House everything he wants and using up the MLE means the Rockets will enter the post-season with the roster as currently constructed. We don't have the trade assets to land anyone important, so the only remaining flexibility we have is the potential buyout market. I'm guessing there will be bigger fish out there on the buyout market than Danuel House, and that's why Morey isn't budging. If there's one constant to Morey, it's maintaining as much future flexibility as possible because new opportunities always present themselves. We don't need to blow our last remaining flexibility on a G-Leaguer who's numbers are inflated because he plays next to James Harden.
House smells like one of those players that once they get paid they stop playing well, maybe we should really convert him for this season with the guarantee that he'll play well in contract year...and if we can't match next summer so be it.
House just posted this 20 mins ago on his instagram showing him in a rockets uniform again.... Does this mean what I think it does???
I think he's saying "Yeah, i'm that good that i deserve a MLE contract, not a case the team was doing better with me out there"
All I know is that I felt pretty good about the Rivers, Harden, House, Tucker, Capela lineup. It almost felt like they could beat any team with that line up. House as a Ariza replacement instead of Ennis felt pretty good. Add Gordon, Ennis, and swap Rivers for Paul and your bench looks pretty good. Seems like pocket change for a guy who really seemed to fit in. House won't find a fit like this else where as well but I think Morey is looking at some metric that he is infatuated with that is undervaluing House, but that's pure conjecture.
