How much will Rivers and Faried get on the open market?

    With all this talk about Morey signing scrubs and minimum wage McDowell players. What is the true value of each. Both will be on 3rd contracts.

    Faried signed an extension that kicked in 2015 for 4/50, 12.5 a year, when the cap was 71 mil. So 17.6% of the cap. The cap projection is 109 mil next year. ( We should get another projection in April) So at the same 17.6% he would make 19.2 mil a year

    Rivers signed for 3/35.5, 11.83 mil a season in 2016, when the cap was 94 mil or 12.5% of the cap. That would be 13.7 mil in 2019.

    Can either one of these players hope to get anything close that same percentage of the cap? Can D'antoni's system bring out the best value of each player? I personally thing there is a cogent argument that could be made that Morey's philosophy of roster building by waiting to sign buyout players to fill out the rotation has created tremendous value that would have not been available due to salary cap restrictions in the summer.

    Faried 3 mil or vet min

    3 guys = ariza salary

    Tilman needs 15 mil new cash plus dire tax if knight stays.
    I have no idea why knight stays here so long.

    Faried won't get much. He is only useful for teams like the Rockets. However, I can see Austin Rivers getting most of some team's MLE.

    Let the season play out but would expect rivers to get an mle offer at least.

    Faried is minimum or exception type money no way he gets full mle

    Really tough to tell right now. Like others said, have to let the season play out. Also, in terms of the Rockets being able to re-sign guys, if they like the ROLE/FIT on the team moving forward, they may take less (versus the market) to sign here. Everyone's motives and priorities are different.

    Premature. Have to wait for playoff performance.

    Good comps for 1yr players who benefitted from playing with Harden in MDA system.
    • Luc got $4.3m, even with an injury, after terrible playoffs
    • Nene got $3.5m at age 54, also after a playoff injury
    • Green took minimum, because I-45
    Use that “only useful to Rockets argument” on Harrell. Faried’s game is nearly identical.
    Harrell got $6m

    Nene got $11m for 3yrs, after his first year with us, off an injury playoffs.

    It’s about planning. It’s not about how good is faried.

    Critical thing is knight contract.

    Tilman wants vet min to replace all 3 if knight stays here.

    Interesting. I take it completely different. I just assume we only have him for this year.

    I meant this as a compliment. Like look at how we have this player we can’t really afford.
