This is mgmt Spin. If Morey were to up his offer by mere $600k, that makes House a Top 15 player. Just to put these comparisons to FRPs into perspective, here is House's Vet Min, Bird Rights and Max Remaining MLE charted by Rookie Scale. These are estimates, but close...
fwiw: According to @ch44, Morey won’t make the offer guaranteed. First offer = Isaiah H, no guarantees Second offer = Clark’s non-guaranteed, but with performance and Summer trigger dates Onuaku Offer = fully guaranteed @KellyUnchained can you comment on a valued CFnet source here saying House never got the Onuaku, fully guaranteed, vet min offer? Does that jive with your source?
Also, do you believe Morey has a value attached to House wrt an Asset who will outplay $X-contact, making him a valued future trade asset if we can lock him up. imo, I think Morey might have him valued higher than vet minimum, thus it can only help us in the future to collect more assets like House for future trades.
@heypartner I think it's safe to assume we offered him a fully guaranteed, because what is our incentive not to ? At vet min !? That is not much risk for us at all . Even if House gets no better , he is a rotation player on this team because of James harden . I think the 3 year guaranteed is working in the opposite direction of what house wants ... he want to hit FA asap . Why not try to compromise in the middle and offer a 2 year guaranteed deal . He gets the best of both worlds ... guaranteed money, playing time to boost his value, and hitting FA the summer after this one . We can even offer a player option for the 3rd year to give him even more security . We would be giving him the flexibility , but we would also only be paying him minimum.... so there is upside for both parties . Unfortunately, it looks like right now house is hell bent on hitting FA THIS summer and a minimum deal (even guaranteed) isn't enough to make him stray from that decision . The rockets are sitting his ass out and lowering his value as a countermeasure to just agreeing to his demands . I haven't seen reports of a 2-year deal being offered (or a 2+ player option ) so I think that is something worth trying to see if we can resolve the negotiation earlier rather than later
Just pointing out that Morey doesn’t always give out Fully Guaranteed contracts to rookie-ish players, and with Onuaku he ended up regretting it. So, obviously, he has incentives not to, since his M.O. is to try to not. Zhou, Isaiah, Wiltjer, Goudelock, Covington, BJ Young, and Clark were not fully guaranteed. Harrell and Onuaku were, and I think maybe Canaan’s was too So, looks like only our high 2nd rounders were able to negotiate fully guaranteed
Agreed , but there is a difference between house and guys like onuaku and witljer House has played NBA games and been productive. Yes the sample size is small but the dude was playing 30 minutes a game . Technically Morey has incentives to get the best possible deal for the rockets . But it's unlikely that house would agree to a deal that gives the rockets 3 years of control at the minimum and no guarantees on his side ... especially as well as House had been playing . The rockets payoff from offering that type of deal is Zero because House won't take it , and they shouldn't expect him to .
I never said he was getting his starting job back, I was pushing back on the poster saying Nunally was a House replacement. Keep up.
Well if you are out of the NBA I dunno why a 3 year minimum deal sounds so bad. Oh man I can either sign a 3 year minimum and be an NBA player or I can stay here in the Gleague and stay out of the NBA. There's no reason to fight with other NBA teams over a 2 way contract there are literally hundreds if not thousands of prospects out there.
Bro NBA is a business, if House won't play ball can't see why the Rox need to do him any favors. There are so many guys like Nunally out there, surely there must be somebody just as good as House among all these prospects. Just offer 10 days to other prospects until you hit on a jackpot.
Are you serious? a player would want to sign with us because he would have an excellent chance to get meaningful playing time and a tangible chance to get a real NBA contract. that is borne out by the fact we have both 2way players that chance just this year.
It is a reward because Harden and MDA system upgrades his stats allowing him to look for a good deal next year. Why do you keep saying minimum when he is getting a contract more than what 1st rounders make? Thats not the minimum! Now that EG is back House's PT would be reduced so I dunno why you are still so hung up on him treating him like a fuure superstar wtf. I actually think Caboclo is a bigger lose than House I would have used that 1 roster spot on him instead of letting Memphis get him. Certainly his skillset is far more valuable than House's.
Then Own that Strategy. It’s the Stash the Hot Girlfirend in the House Strategy, out of fear. You think we should try to depress his market value for fear someone will snatch him up. Which can ONLY mean, you actually believe he has Market value that might exceed $2m/yr, or otherwise you wouldn’t care to not play him, due to RFA and our Bird Rights.
They are already owning the strat AFAIK. Even signed Nunnally to see if they can freeze out House. I dunno if depressing his market value is mutually exclusive to believeing he will get a big payday. They just dont want to be a farm for other teams. House is not a unique snowflake believe it or not.
