It's just predictable and amusing to see the parents and kids blame them. Did they force the kids to chant "build the wall?" Before I opened this thread, I knew there would be people making excuses and justifying what happened and I figured you would be one of the people doing just that.
He was supposed to apologize for being white and wearing a hat because it means that he personally stole that poor man's land. Once he's done apologizing to the "elder's" satisfaction and had his parents sign their house over to Phillips, he should have immediately booked a flight "back to Europe" as the racists suggested he do. Refusing to comply with the racists is plenty of reason to have a hate mob go after the kid and his family. This is where we're at in 2019.
first off, why cant people chant 'build the wall'? second off, of all the video, none of it shows that. It appears right now to be one of Phillip's many lies.
I'm trying to avoid specifics, but there are several fight or flight queues. And he is clearly not fleeing. Absolutely 100% agree with this. Talk with him about the situation and deescalating conftontation and move on.
Well, since you don't know what you are talking about, it's pretty hard to discuss this with you. Yes, the black racist hate group are pretty much one of the villains in this story. No, the kids didn't chant "build the wall", that was proven to be a lie by video evidence.
I want to specifically focus on the kid in the main picture that has been named on the internet (including this site) with the suggestion he be blackballed from life basically lol. What did he do wrong? What should he have done differently? The Native American got in his face and started banging his drum. He literally just stood there smiling and yet the narrative is that the kid was the one doing the harassment.
If you are suggesting that the kids should have given the 2 racist groups a beat down, I completely agree with you. Turns out they were more mature than that and merely laughed them off.....which pissed off the racist groups who then sent a hate mob after them.
I guess I'm just amazed that the takeaway from the situation is that the high school kid needs to be taught to de-escalate a situation while the Native American is being hailed a hero. HE WAS THE SITUATION.
Look at you, Sherlock. You must have a lot of time on your hands. Lol.. Calm down, it's not that serious.. and I meant that as more of a question. If they didn't chant it, they didn't. I think he is being blasted for his smug face. It did look pretty punch-able? Lol.
Again (and note my posts on the subject throughout this thread), I said the students' behavior was offensive towards Mr. Phillips. Apparently you agree he smirked (and the other kids egged him on, laughed and also acted disrespectfully), but don't think it was as offensive as I did. You excuse it in a few ways (he was nervous, he was just a kid). I described it as a learning opportunity for all directly involved, that the apologies should have happened (the school and diocese did) and that it would provide a good opportunity for the students to learn more about Mr Phillips and his history and beliefs. I also questioned what the responsible adults (chaperones and or parents) were doing at the incident. Especially since it appears there were multiple incidents at the Memorial. The fact that there were multiple incidences involving the students suggests the "responsible" adults were not acting responsibly. To me they own a significant portion of the blame for what happened. Seeing the "student's" statement, its unfortunate that it focused more on defending and shifting responsibility ("personal space") than apologizing for (if) any disrespect towards Mr. Phillips. A few quick apologies (which would have significantly defused the situation) and a desire to better understand each other would have been more in line with the teachings of the school.
That might have been more believable if the same group wasn't already involved with a "situation" with another group there.
Do you think that's a solid defense of your ignorance on this topic? You judged the kids based on the color of their skin and fake news then you came in here pushing what have been proven to be lies, hell bent on demonizing children who did absolutely noting wrong and defending racists and bigots. Honestly you've given a good example of why fake news being pushed by the media is such a problem today.
By "involved with a situation with another group" you mean that they had racist and bigoted rhetoric screamed at them by a racist and homophobic hate group.....apparently that was their fault in your mind. The full videos have been posted many times in this thread, there is no excuse in your ignorance at this point.
I don’t know what it means, where do racists and white supremacists stand on the subject of Islam in America? Let’s ask the boys mother- she blamed “Black Muslims” Phillips the peacemaker entered to intervene, and the boys pretended they were playing Cowboys and Indians
Disgusting. I pointed out the evidence at :42 seconds, and you can't counter it so you just accuse me of lying? That's disgusting.
I don't think there were crimes committed by any party in the incident. The Native American didn't instigate anything.
It's completely understandable to confuse the black supremacist group with a different black supremacist group. You are again attacking people based on the color of their skin in order to defend a hate group based on the color of their skin. On top of that you are parroting lies, Phillips and his group attempted to incite the kids who were being attacked by the hate group while doing nothing wrong by pushing his way through the middle of them while banging his drum in their faces while the rest of his group joined the black supremacist group by also hurling racist rhetoric at the group of children. You need to be better than this.
This is F'd up. Phillips did nothing but stand his ground when those teen-thugs surrounded him and started jumping up and down. They were all close and blocking him in any direction. Do I think that smug kid did anything wrong? No. But neither did Phillips and your attempt to tar him to defend your weak position shows to what length you will attack another side to defend your bias.
They attempted to instigate something with their racist rhetoric and by banging drums in the face of the kids, but they didn't respond. They just let the 2 racist groups do their thing and then left when their bus showed up.
