Rox official poster said House got a deal more than first round picks. Does it make any sense he gets a large deal but it is unguaranteed? Also the Rox are on record saying they want to invest in rookies who was there long term but then they give unguaranteed contracts? Even Ian Clark got a guaranteed contract you think House who has played better would get an unguaranteed deal? Lol
If House is that good how come he was cut from teams two times and was out of the NBA before the Rox got him? Are these teams just dumb or is House's value inflated by playing with Harden? He already got an offer more than clark or Ennis so whats your point? He turned down more than vet min money so thats on him.
You are the one who hadnt thought it through as Moute was injured regardless of whether he was signed by the Rox or not. A player's health is not dependent on his deal so I dunno wtf you are talking about. Could we have used a healthy Moute? Sure! We could have also used a healthy Cp3, doesn't have anything to do with the situation this year. Are you implying House is as good as a healthy Moute?!?! Lolololol! We already got Gerald Green and Ennis who can give 3 and 4 a rest. House may be better but the upgrade is so incremental I would actually prefer a pg over House at this point.
You're in a blind rage right now so I'll let the condescension be. But I'm certain you're not incapable of understanding the point: depth matters. That's not up for debate. 7 man rotation is the exact opposite of depth.
Morey resigned him and MDA started him? You're playing on technicalities. The fact that he's not a great player and started is all the context you're ignoring.
I agree with you depth matters but House's depth is a marginal upgrade to what we already have. I'm not opposed to it but neither do I see that as vital to the Rox's success and evidently Morey and co. feel the same way.
Look there's no denying MDA system and Harden has enabled House. But even with that he is just a 10 ppg scorer as a starter. So if you take thise two enablers what does House have? You can't deny the fact no team wanted him until the Rox got him. Arguably House's market value is 0 as Houston is the only team willing to sign him, others cut him or just ignore him.
https://basketball.realgm.com/wiret...-Disabled-Player-Exception-Worth-$185-Million The Mavs can sign house or sh*t, even Carmelo anthony after jj barea hurt his ankle two weeks ago. Mark Cuban is a remarkable owner, he even gave Tony Romo a decent look.
This theory is irrelevant. Morey will sign him this summer, if no one else does. We've already established that you agree Morey will make him an RFA. I don't think that's debatable. The only issue is you are worried that we must stash him, and not play him, in order to keep his market value down, so he doesn't get stolen away, while we do the development and showcasing. I call that the Possessive Boyfriend, Anti-Showcasing strategy -- guy who won't let his hot girlfriend out of the house, so she won't get a better offer on the open market. Stop with the idea that we won't make him an RFA for the purpose of signing him.
Ian Clark? Are you referring to Gary Clark? If so... he didnt get a fully guaranteed contract... "The Houston Rockets announced they have agreed to a three-year contract with Gary Clark. The deal is worth $3.7 million, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium. Per Charania, Clark's contract is fully guaranteed for this season, half guaranteed for 2019-20 and has a guarantee date for 2020-21." Gee... looks very similar to what ch44 said the structure of House's offer was... Additionally by all accounts, House got offered a minimum contract (3/4.5) - thats a min contract for someone of his tenure...thats the least amount Morey can offer (aside from a 2 way)... House is not a rookie....
Well if we were really forward thinking, we would think about why a player who has a choice to sign a 2 way between 2 different teams would ever sign with us if our policy is that no matter how well you play, you have to lock in to a 3 year minimum.
I agree that the ideal resolution would be for House to blink or if they reach a compromise. I also agree/hope that this isn't over yet.
How is converting him a huge reward? I know it is what he and/or his agent wants, but he has been starting (and not because he has sucked up to Harden but because his play warranted it --- and injuries). We are talking about converting him for one year -- paying him the minimum -- when we have Harden playing at a peak level. Now Bobby Brown? That was exactly what you are describing.
Because @roslolian subscribes to the Possessive Boyfriend, Anti-Showcasing Strategy I described above. He is worried we won't be able to keep House this summer if the open market gets to see him play this year, especially in the Playoffs. So, letting Danuel out of the House is a reward, like the hot-girlfriend who is being stashed for no one to see.
Ok, from Kelly Iko's article today. Per league sources, House’s representatives were initially seeking a multi-year deal that would pay him a significant chunk of what was left of the MLE, annually (around $3.3 million). “He essentially wants to get paid like a top 7 pick,” one source said." Morey and the front office would prefer to keep that MLE untouched for flexibility. If they converted House to a standard contract for the rest of the year, they would only have his non-Bird rights, meaning dipping into the MLE to realistically keep him. A three-year, non-guaranteed offer was put on the table, followed by a multi-year minimum deal, guaranteed. Both were rejected. cc @ch44 @Codman
The Capela injury put the team in a bigger bind, but the info below says that they are just "holding off" on House at the moment and seeing the landscape of buyouts. They won't know that until mid February. Once they see the landscape and who they can get, they THEN can offer House more of the MLE money if not used. So, this basically looks like the "holding pattern" that @Codman was talking about. It just sucks that things are tight right now with Capela and CP3 out. Morey is gambling they can "stay afloat" in the West playoff standings during this time.
You are correct, Morey see every move in gambling terms. Sometimes he doubles down on his 11 and gets that face card. It's the only way to beat the House.
