The comparison was just to show that people color their opinions and objectivity based on their own personal desires and interests... like LeBron's legacy would be diminished in going to the fakers - thats laughable... Players that want to complain and hold out while under contract are outta line... If House was saying "i'm not gonna play if you just convert my 2-way bc I think i deserve more money..." that would be outta line... but he's not... he's willing to honor the basis of his 2 way contract by accepting the stipulation that it can be converted to a 1 year min... Morey is the guy that wants more than had been previously negotiated - adding 2 years to the deal... When Morey decided to waive House - that was his prerogative - it wasnt a guaranteed contract... When Morey decided to bring him back on a 2 way and continue to play him like he was on a reg contract - so be it... but that time has run out... House doesnt owe the org anything... contracts are entered into bc both parties are happy with the parameters - mutually beneficial...
We need House back. And we need him back bad. His defense as the starting SF, his ability to CONSISTENTLY hit open 3s, and his athletic ability to attack when the 3 isn't there...these skills aren't luxuries for the Rockets, they're necessities. The FO is in no position to try and haggle with a player that ultimately could be integral to the Rockets championship hopes THIS SEASON. If he has to become a RFA in the off-season then so be it. We need him now. James Harden needs him now. Morey and Tillman are letting down the team, the fans, and their superstar in one fell dwoop.
We don't need him bad yet. But I predict we will want him. That's not all, we need House AND another bigger 3&d forward. At the moment we've essentially replaced Ariza, Ryno (reg season) and Moute with Rivers, Knight, Ennis and Faried. Since Ennis didn't pan out, we basically have not replaced Ariza. I know MDA loves the idea of starting Gordon at the 2 and Harden at the 3, but that line up is just too small (Tucker and Paul are also undersized for their positions). At the very least, it requires an excellent bench forward.
The defense has been atrocious in the 2 games House has been out...and yes Capela is a big factor, but they played the Grizzlies w/o Capela in House's last game and held them under 100 points. His defense as our starting SF can't be understated. The difference between him and Ennis, who can't keep anyone in front of him, is night and day. The Rockets won last night on the sheer will of Harden and Gordon, they really had no business outside of that. Philly is going to be a nightmare. They already need him back bad.
Yeah, sounds like guaranteed dates that are prior to start of seasons were translated as Fully Guaranteed. But that's what Clark got. So, sounds like the more accurate offers were that House got an Isaiah H offer first, then he got the same as Clark (which has guarantee dates prior to season, too). Instead, we heard he first got the Clark offer (someone in media mentioned Clark's offer by name), then he got what amounts to a Onuaku (fully guaranteed) offer. @ch44 -- does that jive with what you're saying.
do u have a link on this? Thats a big deal... not doubting what you're saying or anything... I just havent seen it broken down like this... I heard non guaranteed and fully guaranteed... and if this is the case, then Morey is being an even bigger douche than I thought... lol
look man, I dont have an anti-Morey agenda... I've always been a huge fan of Morey... He even came up to me during summer league here in Vegas and shook my hand and thanked me for my support for cheering for the team during his 1st or 2nd year... i got his autograph another year... I'm a fan... but in this instance Morey is outta line... sorry, do i have to stick my head in a hole and swear my blind allegiance to whatever Morey does to to be good in your book? Both sides agreed to a contract - which included the provision that the 2 way contract could be converted to a 1 year min... pardon me for thinking Morey should honor that contract without tacking on additional stipulations... smh...
because House's side has said they want to convert his 2 way to a reg 1 season min contract - which is the provision of the existing contract... A move which Morey could do and honor the existing contract... and have House on the floor - period. but instead the org has put out this statement about 'not wanting to reward a player on a 2 way by converting...' but that's the provision of the existing contract...
2 year, 3 year, non guaranteed, fully guaranteed... those parameters were not "what the deal agreed to was" interesting insight into the negotiations... but still not the existing contract... and as aforementioned... if House was refusing to play the rest of the year on a 1 year min - then he would be the one outta line..
Not true, you are not aware of all the facts, so do not pretend you do to substantiate your premature conclusion. There are obviously unknown factors in play that are delaying or obstructing the deal, Morey is not an idiot.
What's not true? A 2 way contract can be converted to a 1 year min contract w/o the players approval - that is a fact... House's agent has said they want his contract to be converted... do you you want me to pull the quote? The organization released a statement saying they 'dont want to reward players on a 2-way by converting them without a longer commitment' - it was in The Chronicle i believe and elsewhere... Morey wants a longer deal... bc he doesnt want to have to use the mle to retain him next year.. Those facts are not in debate... What exactly Morey has offered in terms of a longer deal seems to be some contradictory info... but regardless, if both sides arent agreeing on a longer contract... the option for Morey to convert him to a 1 yr min is there - no negotiation necessary... he's simply chosing not to do it - in pursuit of a longer contract... here's a breakdown: https://rocketswire.usatoday.com/2019/01/20/houston-rockets-danuel-house-contract-explained/
I never said he was being unreasonable. Bet on yourself all you want. But looking at the recent landscape I'm not seeing players like him getting more $$ than Houston is offering now, so I'm not going to knock the Rockets for not offering more. I think 1st round $$ for a 20+ game sample size is pretty damn good.
Bold statement, In July, if Knight contract is still in the book, Both Rivers and House could walk for nothing. Sources said House want $1 year 5.4 million for next season.
Bold statement, even if Knight's contract is still in the book, Rivers and House can walk for nothing. We'll still be over the cap and only be able to offer the MLE.
if he doesnt return this year... a min contract may be the best he can do - if that... but if he returns, then he more than likely would be higher priced next year... at least thats the opinion of both Morey and House's agent... If House were to return and only commands a min contract next year... then we could just convert him, have him play out the season for the min... and then just sign him for the min next year... but both sides believe that if he returns and plays he will command a higher payday - and Morey doesnt want to use next years mle to retain him (prob gonna need that for Rivers...)
