I doubt it will affect Houston's reputation. I agree with you that it is frustrating that House hasn't been signed, but the guy is still an unproven commodity. He's been in the league three years and yet this is the best production he has had and it's only less than a quarter of a season. That doesn't guarantee that you deserve a lot more money.

I feel that we should sign him to a better deal, but I am not mad at the team for dealing with the situation the way they are. They gave House an opportunity when he had already been cut this year.

I think it's stupid that we may cut Nunally after one game. Really stupid. He may prove he is a good player for the system. Oh well.

Yes I get your amusing point, I still don't agree. Opportunity cost. I'd rather not sign MCW or Faried or any player that I know I don't want to any type of deal because history tells me that means they won't sign someone else.

More than "oh well." Cutting a player with upside because you don't want to absorb the financial hit of cutting Melo is outrageous.

You mean the same MCW and Ennis who also are also playing on veteran minimum deals despite far more NBA experience than House? So are Green and Clark, who've also been competent wings for the Rockets this season. The Rockets have set a precedent here that they don't overpay for competent 3 and D guys. It's why they didn't overpay for Ariza, and it's why they're not going to give an undrafted career G-Leaguer a significant contract based on a 25-game sample size.

And, again, for the record, I really, really like House. I hope they get this thing worked out. But this idea that the Rockets should "reward" him by going above and beyond what they've paid other similar players in similar situations based on the last month is crazy to me. That's what separates good GMs from bad GMs.

I'm banking on Murray making the Melo to L.A. deal a reality

Need to actually run plays for him to get dunks so he's useful. Maybe get Harden's assists up again.

If you look at his game log for this season, he's played 2 games with meaningful minutes. In both games he was able to have an active box score.

Faried knows how to be active, that's about it. He'll either do it or he won't.

My guess he knows this is his last chance before his nba career ends.

Well, you have selective memory, then.

We just cut Zhou Qi and Got out of Onuaku’s in the Summer. Zhou’s was probably the most team-friendly contract ever signed in NBA history -- 4ry, NG, vet minimum.

But you're right, i'd go so far as to cut Clark or Isaiah, with confidence we can re-sign them later, if we still don't have a free roster spot for House, come April -- but we won't, for the reason you stated. I'd cut one of them, because every Harden playoff in his prime matters more than the future, when it comes to picking which developing role player to keep.

Gotta create leverage in a Melo trade scenario. "See, we don't have to just release Melo. We are willing to cut Nunnally."

If House was the end all be all to a championship, I'd understand. But Flexibility is KING when the next domino drops, and YOU KNOW Dork Elvis has all contingencies mapped with far more intel than you or I.

Who knows, Clark and Hartenstein might have value elsewhere in a future trade. (Looking at you Atlanta)

Getting Faried is an excellent move. Yeah, his defense is mediocre. But the Rockets are in dire straights right now. He just needs to be "better" than Hartenstein and Chriss. He will be.

Faried re-introduces the "vertical threat" on offense which will REALY help Harden. He is another strong body to help in the post defensively which allows the Rockets to lessen minutes for Tucker & Clark. We know Faried plays hard and gets rebounds.

    Vet Min too.

Faried is another attempt like last year with Brandan Wright to get a "rim running" C behind Capela. This could be a nice role for Faried here.

This is great. The Brooklyn tweet/photo and then 15 minutes later the news of the buyout.

Never said they were buyouts. But finding unwanted aging veterans who still have something left in the tank or untapped-potential youngsters haven't been Maori's strong suits.

It is kind of hard to believe but Faried is only 29. But we talk like he is 35.

Perhaps he will be happier in Houston with his role on this team. That might translate to inspired play.
