I think house has earned a min deal this season and a guaranteed deal for next season. Locking him up beyond that at his age with his play might be asking him for too much. His on court performance has been effective and deserves to be rewarded,
It is damn near impossible to carve yourself a starting spot in the NBA coming out of the GLeague. Danuel House did it, and Danuel House riskily gave it away to try to get a couple more million dollars. If he goes ice cold from the field the next time he gets a chance (If he gets another chance), he could be playing for peanuts in the GLeague for the rest of his career. And now, there is competition for that spot that he outright won a couple weeks ago. James Ennis and Nunnally and Clark will get another crack, and Daryl Morey might have a starting SF on the way at the trade deadline. Danuel House had the spot locked up. I hope this all works out, for him and the Rockets. Rockets get worse, House's career in a precarious spot.
I think House will get the minimum somewhere, I agree with that, but that he's losing out on a prime opportunity to prove himself on bigger stages. Financially, for the short term, there is no risk. Long term there is though. He could finish his term as a bonafide role player that was on a contending team...and he could easily then get a deal like Beverly did when he was playing on the minimum for the Rockets.
So you think Morey won't even convert his contract to make him playoff eligible this year? How do you feel about that decision by the GM? There is no chance Morey doesn't make him an RFA this summer and offer him a minimum deal. You're presenting scenarios that simple won't happen, so they carry no value in discussions. You can't give them weight just because you can think up extremely unlikely scenarios; yet when convenient, you can say no way anyone gets another Trier 2yr / $7m contract, claiming control over what is likely and unlikely, despite that contract actually happening a month ago.
Do you think Morey will refuse to make House playoff eligible by converting his contract before end of season? How do you feel about that as a fan?
I think this was/is his Whiteside/covington opportunity. But I get the point that anything can happen...that's how the Rockets see it too though. He's an undrafted player and they are not going to overpay for a few games that could very well be a hot stint. I think if House was even younger...like 22 or 23...this isn't much of a risk for him...he'd get a huge deal in RFA just on potential alone.
But he will be coming back without a starting spot. Potentially without the opportunity to play major minutes on a contending team. A spot that could very possibly be gone by the time he signs. Right NOW he has the chance to etch his name on the wall so to speak. A chance for everyone to see Danuel House and what he can do. 12 games isn't going to cut it. Back to the bargain barrell and HOPING AND WISHING he gets another shot. Risky.
I don't know, I think it depends. I think he will though but there's no guarantee that he won't be out of the rotation by then, especially with MDAs rotations tightening up he may not feel comfortable going to him or, hopefully, someone will have replaced his contributions.
I'll present this scenario Mister scenario. Danuel House is in the GLeague, and he gave up a starting spot and potentially unlimited minutes on a championship team. His career is in a precarious spot If the hold out continues, because the only thing he has proven is that he can exist in harmony with James Harden for a couple weeks. Also, I didn't say that at all. I presented an alternative possibility to YOU presenting a scenario where Danuel House gets offers after taking a year off in the GLeague. My scenario has way more sand in it's pants Clyde.
Just imagine if he had a big game in a playoff series, it would do a lot more for how other teams value him than if he went to go play for the Hawks or Suns and played meaningless minutes on a bad team.
If we get Kent Bazemore, I feel great about it. If we go into the playoffs starting James Nunnally, I am petrified.
Well no need to pick up his Gleague deal, his 45 days are up - he will become an UFA, then he can negotiate with any team..... And doesn't he continue to get paid by the Rox on his contract while he plays G-league? So he is litterally risking NO money to try to get a better NBA deal. Smart DD
It is not a good idea to compare House's salary to the salary of first round pick. It is two different thing. You can't compare salary of Otto Porter to Ingram. I still think he is worth $5 million next year by his production.
We are on the same page. The opportunity to play is just too great to pass up. If he continued to kill on the Rockets, the salary he might get next year would be chump change compared to what he could make for the entirety of his career moving forward If he made a name for himself. This opportunity might never come again. It's too bad man, because I am going to feel happy and awful If James Nunnally starts going off. I already miss the GreenHouse effect...
He isn't risking money short term, but he is risking it long term and losing a starting spot and mpg to showcase his talent, while sitting out an entire year hoping that these offers you guys spew out eventually come in. I hope you are right, but I don't see many good teams willing to give Danuel House 35 mpg going forward. At the end of the day, that is what matters. That is what really gets you paid.
There's a massive difference between G-League rated salary and NBA. House has already maximized his 45 day min salary
Yeah like wouldn't it be nice if our top player turned in the most dominant offensive streak in modern NBA history over a month long period and willed us into the Top 4 in the conference while providing a decades worth of hi-light reel material in the process? You mean THAT kind of can something go right for us?
I wish him the best and hope he knows what he's doing. His agent could be leading him to fool's gold. And people are right. I think he's a product of James Harden and MDA. GSW already passed on him. He's not going to be able to get all of those open catch and shoot opportunities many other places.
wow **** you house. You were basically out of the league and we gave you a chance and you spat in our face. probably has the same agent as Dmo
