Rockets literally cannot match what Jonathon Simmons got. The T-MLE won't be big enough. Another comp, Montrezl pay is too high as well. The question is: What will Rivers get? If Rivers gets a Luc offer, we can cover it, but couldn't match anything for House, except 120% of his minimum. I don't think House gets $6m offers, but if he gets playoff exposure, and gets playoff-rotation PT and performs like he is now, he's getting more than minimum, if what Alonzo Trier got this summer is any indication -- $7m for 2yrs -- which means we effectively can't match and keep Rivers, too.
How much of this year's MLE is left? Didn't we use at least some of it? I need another cup of coffee.
That's because Green was playing one on one with his dog when we signed him while House was guarding the just lethal scorers in the NBA while we went on a .800 tear. Why won't they give their hometown boy a bump in salary? That's the question.
that 1st offer of non guarantee deal really insulted House and his agent I'd think, come on it's pretty obvious House is better than Clark, so he's gotta be getting paid lot more than Clark too. How can anyone blame House for being greedy? Put yourself in his shoes.
House is straight up better than Green right now. We need to find a way to keep him. Even at full strength, this is a playoff rotation player.
I understand what Danuel's agent is doing, but I wonder If they have fairly considered the James Harden/Mike D'Antoni impact on Danuel's game. If he signed a 3 year guaranteed to play with James in his prime, you can almost guarantee that when he hits 28 the offers will be pouring in. Meanwhile, sitting out this season in the GLeague, and then going to a completely different situation next year might effectively end his NBA career. He is in the PERFECT spot to succeed right now. I am dubious that teams are going to come calling with any significant money after he sits the whole year in the minors.
My fear for House is that we bring someone else on board who does well and we choose not to bring House back after the RGV season ends, or that we bring him back and he doesn't get any PT. Then this summer, he becomes "Oh, yeah, that guy who can't stick with a team, but did manage to play decently for Houston for a few games." That doesn't exactly scream "guaranteed contract."
And don't think House, Jr. doesn't know that to the penny. It's like if you're working for the state here in Austin, something my significant other did for 30 years. Every salary is posted online, so everyone knows what everyone else is making, and that produces some bad feelings from time to time amongst the state's employees.
Agents's interest is different from House's House has this one chance to get paid this year, and even lesser chance to get paid big His Agent (I assume has alot of clients or building his client list), has multiple chances to get paid and get paid big
Granted he deserves more than the first offer but his agent isn't playing smart. They should compromised somewhere in between.
lol at everyone freaking out and then calling Tillman cheap, House wants to be able to test Free Agency albeit restricted, that's on him not the Rockets
I always thought re-signing restricted free agents didn’t involve the exceptions, like having his bird rights and being able to pay him whatever. Man, that sucks. House won’t be replaced with a 3&D. It’s his toughness and athleticism that I liked; on top of buying into his role. Best case scenario, he folds and accepts a 2 year minimum. Otherwise, we have to accept losing him next year.
Morey should have led with his second offer. Clark's deal, while great for the Rockets, in my opinion, isn't exactly great for Clark if he plays and continues to improve. It's a big question mark on Clark getting playing time, not so with House, Jr., who might have been a bit insulted since he's not only playing, but starting.
