Do we care/focus on what the ESPN/HELERMANS/ANALYST/REPORTS say?

I watched McHale take some not so subtle jabs at the Rockets
while Praising the Warriors . . .for beating the same team we beat without 2 starters
    and I was like. .. Look at this bitter milkhaired sh!tbasket here . . . . . . .

Then I had to step back . . . .I said maybe I am being a little sensative
    Maybe I should be like Harden and let it roll off . . . . . .

This made me think of all the media related threads here .
. . . .are we giving these @ss clowns too much headspace?

As much headspace as Harden and the Rockets is in theirs?

    It's annoying . .its irritation but I think we have to learn to ignore it . . . . .. . .

I watched that last night too and it was making me mad. He was all "boy I really like watching these teams that move the ball, so much fun to watch all this great passing with everyone involved, so much better than just dribble dribble dribble dribble iso." Oh is that what you like? Maybe you should have done some ****ing coaching while you were here and installed a system like that. **** outta here with that garbage.

Basics of basketball - dribbling and shooting.

Player: dribbles and shoots insane shots and puts his team in a winning position.

Critics: we need less of that. more passing around. for fun. ya! that's basketball.

Conscious is not a bad thing.

I think the issue here is consumption without consciousness. More specifically, the average person seems to consume 99% of Rockets media and 1% of overall NBA media, which is a recipe for making yourself vulnerable to narratives. You start believing that what you know is only somewhat biased. It's gold for those selling media though.

Personally, I think so. Yes, it sucks that we're not universally praised, but the same is true for literally every other team in the league. And sometimes to a larger extent. I think winning cures everything. Be patient, and enjoy the game.

If you get your jimmies rustled by random talking heads on a regular basis then it's time to reassess your life.

What bothers me more than anything is the effect it has on the casual fans who don't actually watch us play (keeping Harden travel/defense/flop/free throw narratives alive), as well as competitive balance issues. Unfortunately, media influence actually has a big impact on competitive balance when you think about it. LeBron would not have gone to the Lakers had it not been such a polarizing move. Free agents go to the teams that not only will give them the best chance on the court, but also in endorsement opportunities - IE big market. Melo wasted away his prime playing on the Knicks because of the celebrity status that came with it.

Then there's the whole issue of actual in-game effects, if you subscribe to the Warriors referee conspiracy theories. I'm not sure I completely buy in myself, as fishy as the WCF felt, but from a business perspective it makes perfect sense for the NBA to help big market teams find success. More media attention = more money, and this is a business, after all.

You always have to continuously pay attention/be aware of the snakes clowns and phonies or youll get stung. The problem is, those snakes, clowns and phonies have a platform to spew their dumbass takes and opinions to a national audience.

Never have, never will care what some media person says. Unless you are from Houston, you probably won't be a Rockets fan anyway. I don't root for other teams. Media people are just opinionated so called experts, ex players and coaches who are probably biased for or against us anyway. Their opinions mean absolutely nothing to me. Just like us, they find reasons to dislike other players, simply because it's the human nature of competitive sports.
