Yeah, 4 million/3 yrs is easy to take from my couch. I guess attitude is too strong a word, but he didn't make any friends sitting on his couch in the RGV with his teammates knowing he can still contribute. The org built him up and offered him money + a development plan over a timeperiod most elite rookies are forced to take. And if doesn't work, it's not okay. He might not be with the Rockets anymore.
It's time for Vincent Edwards to be cut so we can get willie reed on board. Even better I would think motley or maten could be had for some cash. They both can shoot.
i really dont think anyone will "forget" about him. teams have plenty of guys paid to keep track of young players showing great potential . this guy shot 48% from 3 in a starting role, and the rockets were winning games....you can bet your ass there are plenty of teams with his name on a list. someone is going to pick him up. he is certainly worth more than the minimum. for all of you saying he only played well because he is with harden, we have had a multitude of wings come through here over the years who havent produced nearly as well as he has. For what we were getting, he is one of the biggest steals in the league. i dont want to hear any b****in and cryin' once the warriors, thunder, or spurs pick him up. im really starting to dislike this front office
By "big contract offer" I meant something like twice what the Rockets offered. The Rockets offered him league minimum, he can easily do better than that so it's an insulting offer given that he's currently starting for the team.
personally I wish House woulda taken the deal bc I'd like him to continue playing for us... but if Morey is lowballing him with a min contract - and trying to parlay it into tying him up for multiple years for peanuts... then good for him to not take it... I mean c'mon, the kid is starting and running 25 mpg (albeit due to injuries...) but we've had Qi and Chinau etc who were getting paid and contributing nothing... you give a min contract to somebody who you're not really expecting to even be in the rotation yet... His production thus far has to be worth more than the lowest you're allowed to pay him... jus sayin...
I'm fine with Morey playing hardball. But competent hardball means you don't bluff. You use your super GM skills to prepare a backup plan. Let's see it, Daryl.
This is about the time when @J.R. bumps the "Rockets sign Danuel House" thread and look at all the people who thought House was a trash pick up.
I think House and his agent need to look at the list of free agents this summer. All of that money out there is gonna go to the big names and known commodities first. And there are a ton of big names who'll be available. His level of play could wind up being irrelevant. Luc Mbah a Moute was starting for the Clippers a couple years ago and playing well and still wound up settling for a 1-year, 1 1/2 mil deal with the Rockets.
Let's keep things in perspective. How many games has he started? He's shot 39 for 100 for the season overall. 39% in 25 games is great but it's still a small sample size. If he goes 4 for 20 over his next 5 games let's say, that'll bring him down to 34%. Point is, he hasn't been around long enough to focus in on his shooting percentage over such a small sample of games and shots.
