If they do take actions against King, then good for them. It's always best when parties take action to make themselves more credible.
There are multiple things mccarthy and the republican leadership could do. Unfortunately, these are not new comments and thoughts from steve king... and yet he was re-elected by similar-thinking voters in Iowa. Simply wagging a finger or taking him off status committee assignments doesn't seem enough. He has no other qualifications. An argument can be made that his district is the most racist in the country.
The republican House were not calling out a private citizen, but rather a republican House member. And while its late (he has said things in the past) and perhaps driven by a desire to beat any Democrat led actions against king, better late than never. It would be better to see republican House leadership, or even the national republican party, further distance themselves by saying they will not support his re-election, or even censure the congressman. But small steps...
