Funny how dishonest the chart is. Forced to grab data from multiple sources to create one trend line. Also mixes the term wall with the term fence.

Probably why trump supporters also try and fail with the Obama supported fences in past but opposes trumps wall argument, no matter how many times its shot down.

Stoop to any any dishonest depth to get his vanity wall.

Well it's never been just Mexicans trying to come through the unsecured southern border, it's people from all of central and south America. Once the barriers went up, it got considerably more difficult so they stopped coming in the same numbers. There was still a problem though because Obama created the asylum loophole where illegal immigrants could just say they wanted to apply for asylum and be released into the country. The Trump administration eliminated that loophole so it's just a matter of time till that slows down.

Yup, as soon as the new talking points were released by the DNC you had Democrats start to tell everyone that we were always at war with Eastasia. The beliefs of the left are easily malleable, they'll believe whatever they are told to believe.

Didn't really expect it to, neither did he. After all he said it was a big waste of time. There are rational people and they already support border security and there are Democrats that have Trump derangement syndrome. Neither group was likely to change their mind.

You mean using multiple polls like say Nate silver and rcp and every polling aggregate? Also are you arguing there are people who are pro fence but anti wall?

Cant believe you are arguing against multiple data points......

Sure you can, I'm still not convinced that he's anything other than a DNC propaganda bot. Of course he's going to do the best he can to spin what you posted no matter how foolish it makes him look.

RCP shows averages of multiple polls for single points in time. Your chart appears to take different polls taken at different times with the attempt to show a single trend line. Course, you could provide the source document... supposedly the Cato Institute. Show that report.

A well is a largely effective means of stopping people. Most people attempting to cross the border don't have access to tunnels. That's why the border between California and Mexico is largely walled/fenced. I fail to see any convincing arguments to persuade me it wouldn't work at other parts of the border as well. Obviously, it is unnecessary every step of the border but certainly more of the border could use it.

Border isn't "open" but the current system isn't particularly effective. I'm down to try something else.

It's estimated border patrol only apprehends 50% of people crossing the southern border illegally. That leaves tens of thousands illegally entering the country via the southern border every month. So, we're spending billions every year for a not so great apprehension rate.

It wouldn't...but that doesn't answer my question, does it?

I'm curious...are the drugs flowing across the border just visa overstays as well?

So, I'll repeat...please elaborate on how you control the border with no physical barriers.

I can think of a few off the top of my head, even though I think we need to build walls on the border. You actually need a mix of techniques to make a border control system effective:

    You need man power
Vechiles for rapid air and ground response
    Drones for surveillance
    Look out posts
    Camera and sensor systems
    Trained dogs
    Possibly robots eventually

Of course these are barriers in a sense, and costly.

I contend that it would be cheaper to have a wall and combine it with a few of the things above, and be 100 times more effective and cheaper. I posted earlier in this thread about how ancient castles used walls, and sometimes more than one layer, and combined them with other technologies of their days. They didn't just stand their ground and defend things without a physical barrier. Also you have these mass numbers to contend with. The real question is... how do you stop a large group of hundreds or thousands who want to storm the border and take advantage of the fact that the border has no physical barrier. Good luck!

Ok, you fund 1% of what I want and I'll fund 1% of your $5 billion dollar wall.

    Done!

Actually Dems should be asking for DACA but they know that the wall would keep out their future voters: low IQ foreigners from places lacking an education system. They love that demographic. Especially because they have children at a high rate who also become voters. They are basically replacing the current population with a new one that will be more controllable because of their dependence on welfare programs.
