It's quite silly that drugs are being used as a reason for the wall. First they come into legal ports of entry. Second, who gives a crap, I know not to do Heroin or any other drugs that might kill me or make me do strange things like lick doorbells. If idiots want to partake in drug use, good riddance. The demand is there, and until it subsides, it's going to be filled.
How does what I added change anything what I posted. trump has continually said (in tweet and in speeches) that heroin and other dangerous drugs are coming through the southern border as justification of his wall. https://theweek.com/speedreads/816328/dea-disagrees-trump-about-how-heroin-crossing-border https://theweek.com/speedreads/8176...rep-steve-king-rabid-abhorrent-racist-remarks https://www.factcheck.org/2019/01/trumps-border-blunders/
Dude, everyone can see what you said, you said (paraphrasing) "Trump with another lie" and pointed to a tweet saying (paraphrasing) "Drugs are coming across our southern border" and you then you cited an article saying the drugs were coming through ports of entry, as if, that meant they weren't coming across the southern border. You tried to point out a lie that wasn't there... I forgive you for it though.
Cartels use various ways to smuggle their drugs. Drug tunnels are one way. Cartels use them because they can ship a massive amount of drugs directly into an urban area undetected with a minimal risk of seizure.
No visa is required to fly into Canada from Mexico. The U.S/Canadian border is the only one with an INCREASE of illegal crossings. Give up and do nothing is working better than ANYTHING that has been done to curtail illegals considering the decrease of illegal crossings along the southern border in the history of the U.S.A.
And a wall is going to stop that how i get the see through fence thing but a wall is a waste of time.
The increase of illegal crossings have been from those illegally crossing INTO Canada from the US.The numbers going from Canada into the US are sill under 100 for the year.....it's simply not a problem, and if it became a problem, the US would need to address it at that point. As to going to Canada from Mexico specifically (the rest of central and South America still need a visa) they still need a passport and an electronic travel authorization meaning there are still steps to go through and they still don't allow criminals into their country so that is a barrier for quite a few of the less desirable would be illegal immigrants. Even misdemeanors can bar you from entry to Canada for a decade or more. "Give up and do nothing" isn't why there has been a decrease at the southern border, it was the 700 miles worth of barriers built starting in 2006 that has done it. Finishing the job would help even more so.
AGAIN...ALL THAT IS BEING DISCUSSED IS $5B!!! Good grief. Also, Trump has NEVER said that ALL he wanted was the wall. BUT a wall is absolutely part of border security. So, either one is for increased border security, or one is not. Amazingly, many seem to be lining up on the 'not' side.
On a parallel note, israel just finished a massive operation to try and shut down all of Hezbollahs many tunnels across the Lebaneese border. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Northern_Shield
Someone said that the Democrats do not want a wall? https://www.vox.com/policy-and-politics/2018/12/21/18151974/border-wall-trump-steel-slats-shutdown What the Trump administration wants: $5 billion for 215 miles of border wall Ultimately, the Trump administration wants to build hundreds of miles of border barriers — a lot more than $5 billion can provide. But it has identified particular stretches of the border as top priorities, and a $5 billion appropriation would allow it to blast through several of them. The Department of Homeland Security estimates that if it got the whole $5 billion Trump has made his red line for wall funding, it would be able to build 215 miles’ worth of barriers along the US-Mexico border. Most of this — about 150 miles — would be built where no physical barriers currently exist; the rest would be intended to replace some of the older and less imposing barriers along the border. The administration’s top priority is building about 104 miles of barriers in the Rio Grande Valley — which has become by far the most common area for Central American families to cross between ports of entry (i.e., illegally). Pretty much all of that would be new barriers, since pre-Trump there weren’t many man-made barriers along the existing natural barrier of the Rio Grande. With the rest of the money, it would want to build (in order of priority) 27 miles of barriers in the Yuma sector in Arizona, 14 miles in the El Centro sector in eastern California, and 55 miles of barriers in the Laredo sector in western Texas. It would round out the $5 billion with five miles in the San Diego sector and nine miles in the El Paso sector (far west Texas and New Mexico). What Democrats are willing to give: $1.3 billion for an unspecified amount of border wall The Democratic counterproposal to Trump — which they’re planning to pass in a bill on Thursday, the first day of the new Congress — is that he will get exactly the same amount of money for the border that he got last year: $1.3 billion. This would be part of a stopgap funding package for the Department of Homeland Security that would reopen the department through February 8. While it’s generally logical to continue funding at existing levels, though, it doesn’t easily lend itself to inking new government contracts to build massive new infrastructure. The $1.375 billion that DHS got for border barriers in fiscal year 2018 is still being allocated (more on that below), but it’s estimated to come out to 84 miles of barrier. But you can’t just build that same barrier again with another $1.3 billion, and it’s not clear whether either Democrats or Republicans are going to drill down on what exactly they want that money to pay for.
It has gotten a lot worse since then. Perhaps you have been under a rock the past several years, but there is a major drug problem in the US.
Perhaps you have been under a rock. The drugs come through legal points of entry and airports far more than from remote areas with no walls. Let's work on changes that will actually help reduce the drug problem.
Well yes, but wall supporters make it seem like we have open borders, so there really isn't any reason that they build these tunnels or go through checkpoints, but they do.
I feel like I’m taking crazy pills. You’ve said this at least 10 times, and each time you are shown that the overwhelmingly majority of drugs come through a legal port of entry. Yet you keep saying it, as if nobody knows that you’re completely full of it.
I'm not sure why anybody tries to have an actual discussion with Cohete-Mojo. They are not interested in the honest exchange of ideas, it's just a constant cycle of: ignore evidence, change subject, create strawman; lather, rinse, repeat.
You’re right, I should know better. Best to just place on ignore because an honest debate isn’t gonna happen.
