Ok Donnie, here's my best offer.

Give us single payer universal coverage healthcare and will give you your shiny new wall.

You get something, we get something. Dont you want your wall?

So, most illegals are now visa overstays. If wall supporters believe that more wall would curtail illegals crossing over on foot, that concludes that an increase of visa overstays would occur. So what is the point of a wall/fence again?

And before wall advocates say "at least we know who they are," a one way airline ticket to Canada from Mexico is around 300.00 and Canada doesn't require visas from anyone flying in from Mexico. This is already happening as the Canadian border is the only border with an INCREASE in illegals crossing over our border. It's not close to the numbers as the southern border, but if it's already happening, and if this magic wall works so well, it would only cause an increase in crossings from Canada. Again, what is the point of a wall? Would a magic wall be needed along Canada as well?

I don't want to hear a damn thing about drugs as a reason as most come through legal points of entry and no one is putting a gun to anyone's head to do these drugs. If you become a drug addict and die, it's not the brown people's fault, it's yours and yours alone.

Orange man bad? If the shoe fits...

Yea, the stuff that currently allows tens of thousands of illegal aliens to cross the southern border a month and the stuff that allows U.S. Customs and Border patrol to have a 50% apprehension rate. Please, tell me more about how "effective" U.S. Customs and Border patrol are on our southern border.

We spend billions each year and the border is extremely porous.

Might as well try something that is expensive and could be effective.

Obviously, you're setting up a straw man with your intentional characterization of the potential wall. It barely warrants response. Obviously, A wall/physical barrier that is susceptible to ladders/cutting a hole isn't worth the time or effort. Tunnels? Yea, maybe in your mind that's something that can be done easily, but it's not, for a variety of reasons.

Having 2 problems is not a valid reason to not solve one of them. When you put a stop to those crossing on foot, you can focus more on the visa overstays. Right now, you have more than you can handle with just those entering on foot and then falsely claiming to be asylum seekers.

You can solve the problem of the 45% who walk in fairly easily, so get that out of the way and then focus on the 55% who overstay visas.

When you do have two other problems that would only make them bigger in spending billions on fixing one, again that's assuming it's as effective as you claim, it's pointless to me.

It's trying to stop one leak and in doing so, causing two more and so on and so on.

When you have 2 problems, and one is pretty easy to solve, you solve that one and then get to work on the harder of the 2 to solve. Also, for people to overstay their visa, they have to be approved for one first.....so it wouldn't just add to more of that if you secured the southern border.

As to your leak analogy, if you have 2 leaks, you don't just sit there waiting to drown, you plug one and then go to work on plugging the 2nd one, if another opens, you go plug that one.

What do you think this proves exactly?

It is known drug cartels move drugs into the United States via tunnels with Mexico. I suppose some amount of humans are smuggled via these tunnels as well. The numbers? Probably minimal.

It is also known that drug cartels spend millions of dollars creating these tunnels.

It's not as if someone is going up to the wall with a shovel.

Like I said, "it's not something that can be done easily."

Actually, the vast majority of drugs go through legal ports of entry. SO the wall wouldn't do anything to slow serious drugs entering into the United States.

The reason they tweeted that is to gain support for trump's wall. And trump's vanity wall would do not to stop heroin coming into the United States. For it to be truthful, they needed to include "through legal ports of entry." They didn't, because they didn't intend to be truthful.

Oh I see you disingenuously edited your post after I remarked on it.

Also, you're still wrong. Nothing about the wall is mentioned in that tweet. All the tweet says is that drugs come across the southern border and you posted an article indicating that those drugs come through ports of entry. Coming through a port of entry is still crossing the southern border. You claimed, that proves that Trump was "lying." There is quite clearly no lie there.

    Wow.

Easy? I don't think even Trump thinks this will be easy.

I'm sure those that are able to be approved for their first visa will do so, and I don't see why it wouldn't increase since it's now the most popular way. For the others, just fly into Canada without one and just walk across via Canada.

In my anology, you do drown, as there is no way to plug all holes.

If enough time was spent on immigration reform as is spent on wall talk, perhaps there would be no holes to plug up. You can legally sell weed 1000X faster than you can become a citizen. That's ridiculous.

Yes, that tweet was clearly unrelated to the push to build the wall.

Trump probably lies about a ton of sh*t. No need to make it up when it's not there.

Why spend millions on tunnels if crossing the current border is so easy?

When it comes to securing the southern border, it comes down to building the appropriate infrastructure which is an adequate border barrier and surveillance equipment. We've already seen how effective the first 700 miles of border barriers were, we're only talking about finishing the job. All things considered, that's fairly easy.

It's not that simple to get a visa, and even then, you'd have an idea of who those people were....so it's an easier problem to solve. You know who they are, you know what they look like, you have an idea of their history....even if they go through Canada....who has more strict visa restrictions than the US does. If you really want to slow down the visa problems, require all people to have a US sponsor in order to get a visa, someone to be held accountable if they overstay their visa. It can be a company or citizen. Either way, you pretty much put a stop to that.

Sorry but you just aren't going to convince me that "give up and do nothing" is the right course of action here.
