Wouldn’t want Houston to give up Tucker and Bukauskas for just Realmuto. I don’t relish the idea of trading Tucker but if they do it better be a one for one deal.
Well the good news is last time O'Dowd came up with a proposal for Realmuto he had the Astros giving up Tucker and James. Glad to see the price is coming down.....
No. James is weird. He's still technically a prospect, but there should not be doubt outside of health or freak loss of ability that James is a MLB player. He could be a reliever. He could be TOR SP. Through 27 innings against MLB hitters, MLB hitters are still trying to figure out how to hit him.
Guesses at which package gets it done: Dodgers: May, Smith, Santana, Gale Braves: Riley, Gohara, Allard, Flowers Astros: Alvarez, C Perez, C Martin, Stassi
Houston is probably lucky Miami is an NL team which slightly diminishes Alvarez’s value since there’s a fair chance he ends up needing to DH. I wouldn’t particularly like giving up that much for Realmuto either; all 3 of those packages are very steep. But I think one of those teams will end up giving in. If I am Luhnow, Whitley is completely untouchable, and I don’t give up Tucker, Alvarez, Martin, or James unless it’s for a superstar player with 3+ years of control. My ceiling for Realmuto would be a 4 player package built around Bukauskas, Cionel Perez, and Stassi. The 4th player could be a fringy big leaguer (Fisher, White, Kemp, Reed) or a lesser but still decent prospect (Abreu, Javier, Toro, Santana).
Very easy to see Pederson (or Verdugo) and Ruiz for Realmuto. That would be a great return for Miami, and a package that LA can afford to give up.
Dodgers just signed Pollock. Wonder if they're still as interested after adding another 50+ million to the payroll...Or now that they have a surplus of OF, maybe they'd be more willing to trade their minor league guys now?
ThenDodgers got an unbelievable great deal on Pollock. Short 4 years at 55 million means they didnt have to break the bank. If anything this just means they are not looking at Harper and could easily fit Realmuto into the mix for a highly regarded prospect.
