CFs, this is the guy that complains after every single win. He’s basically Canjero (sp?) for the GARM. His posts are worthless, typically, and add 0 quantitative or qualitative value. Rivers let’s a guy score a layup during his first game as a rocket? GARBAGE. Rockets blowout team but Harden plays 40. TRASH. Ugh.

Basically it hurt in the beginning of the season, Brass did not know which direction to go.

Then Harden going Metahuman or Inhuman happened.

Things are looking better now but not to the extent one can be satisfied.

This season can go in 2 directions.

    1) Still be able to at least contend for the WCF and beyond.

    2) Toast.

Wouldn't call us mediocre, but it is plain to see during this hot streak that we have to expend dramatically more energy to win games than other teams do. This roster lacks the quality to defeat the Warriors even with Paul and Gordon.

There is still time to change that though and maybe Paul and Gordon play better than they did before, who knows.

We were going back to the days before the Rivers signing.

Giving up big leads and playing with no fire in the clutch.

Austin helped with that but it's only just a bunch of guys who wants to win every game badly. Also the fatigue that added itself up did not help.

Some of the bench issues still remain. We are still an old, injury prone team too reliant on Harden's daily performance.

Boy, we really need to go out and get some help to address this mediocrity. Perhaps we could spend 49 million dollars this year to acquire additional scorers and playmakers at the guard position. Because we're definitely doomed unless we happen to have $49 million of talented guards just sitting around, about to show up in a week or two.

and cp3 seems to have caught a case of acute hardenitis this year, careless with the ball and his assist to turnover ratio fell from career 4-1 to 2.6 /1 this season
his 3pt % has dropped off a lot as well although still good from 38% to 35%

And he is in awe of Harden every time he gave an interview.

Not saying he should not be, but he is Top 10 PG of Alltime, he should assert himself more instead of deferring.

He was the Alpha on the Clippers and on Nola. We won those games against GSW last year because he was leading.

It's over if he lost the ability to lead by example.

Those are the two directions you always want to go. At least now we are top heavy so if the Cp3 experiment fizzles we have a high lotto pick for our troubles.

The way I see it, Gordon CAN and very well might play the rest of his season the same as his past Rockets seasons. The problem with that is, when factoring in his first 30 games, it would still be one of the worst seasons of his career even if he does do that. People may think that's not relevant since we would have the Gordon we know on playoff day, but those people are ignoring two giant holes in that scenario:

    1) A down season in itself is not irrefutable proof of his future, but only an idiot would not consider it an orange alert given we have ramped up the miles on his legs and shoulders. Not to mention his age and the ever-taller, ever-quicker opponents that are showing up every year. Consider that Gordon showed up to this season in the best shape he's ever shown up to a Rockets season and he still had a down season.

    2) The significance of the first 30 games is that it at least partially contributed to our team's poor start, and we are still trying to dig ourselves out of that hole. This means we either show up to the playoffs with fewer home games in round 2 and onwards or we show up more fatigued (think: 2017 Spurs series).

Gordon remains an excellent bench player and he is not as bad as his current stats. He just might not be as good as his past stats either. People need to realize a couple of good months of Gordon might not be enough to fix the part of our problems that he might be responsible for. All of these things roughly apply to Paul too.

There are levels between doomed and invincible. If we had $15m of quality forwards and $15m of quality guards coming back, we would be golden. Everyone understands Paul and Gordon will alleviate the pressure and help us win a lot more, and at the same time everyone understands that even with Paul and Gordon this is not a .800 team as our recent form indicates.

This is a very good point I never thought about. Harden makes it easy for his teammates to lean on him, but it's not what we brought Paul here for. In fact we brought him here for the reverse.

I didn't quite understand what you meant to say nor can I read those stats the way they're lined up, but I know Paul stepped up at key times in last season's playoffs, and I also know his fitness, effort and production this season have been unacceptable even if he were making half his $30m+ salary.
