The sanctimony surrounding the "free press" is absurd. As if the media, by the fact it exists is beyond reproach. When the media is clearly in the tank for one side it loses it's status as "above reproach."
At this point we all agree that the wall would work. It is just that we disagree on whether we should let people in or not. No one is changing their mind at this point.
I dunno if we all agree about that right now, but most who disagree were people who once agreed before the talking points came out that they should think that it won't work.
I think you might be letting others dupe you in believing that people who spent their careers working for the election of GOP candidates, including in the 2016 election, are suddenly now Democrats as opposed to being people who just have a hard time stomaching Trump in control of their party. There's a long list of folks like that.
Fox news is in the tank for the Republicans.... I don't think there is a dispute about that. The charade that CNN and other's are non-bias and beyond reproach is absurd and that an attack on them is an attack on the foundations of the Republic is asinine. They are a mouth piece for the left. Almost every identifiable employee is Democrat and takes every opportunity to slight the right. If that's how you choose to conduct your organization, you can't then hide behind the cloak of the "free press." Total farce.
I guess it's too bad the courts keep disagreeing with this assessment. But they're all Deep State too, I'm sure. The only people who clearly have a handle on things are Trump and those who haven't left or been fired, spouting concerns about Trump on the way out, or news sources like Facebook, YouTube and Fox News. They'll rescue us from such things as Article III and the First Amendment.
This was exactly my point. You aren't going to get Democrats to admit that they work ever since the new talking points came out telling them to take the opposite position, so pointing out all of the times in the past when Democrats have supported physical barriers and talked about how effective they were....or pointing to evidence that the barriers put up with the support of Democrats were effective isn't going to move the conversation forward. It's the politics of "orange man bad" so you can toss anything rational right out of the window.
I've already provided proof that I and several others were against it in 2006, before Trump was anything but a sideshow clown. I can find and repost that thread if you'd like Its kinda funny, but I couldn't find any great clamor for a wall before Trump told you you needed it.
Ok? Nobody was talking about their legal right to Presidential access. They have it. Good for them. Fox News has it to under Democratic administrations. The contemptuous part is the cloak of victimhood that CNN has donned, as if, an attack on them, shills for the left, is some sort of attack on the foundations of the Republic, and that they, CNN, are virtuous and beyond reproach, when in reality, they are just the news arm of the Democratic party.
They literally had a journalist who was banned from the White House press corps. They had to go to court to teach the President that, once again, he's not King. Then the White House altered video tape to suggest that the journalist assaulted a staff member.
For sure, there were people who were wrong even back then, but they were the tiny minority even in the Democratic party. What you can point to however is numerous Democrats who supported it then, spoke glowingly of it even, and now are pretending they are against them. Those are the people I was talking about. Also, you can prove that the barriers put up in 2006 did a lot of good, which makes the case for those kind of things working....but I know that kind of thing would be ignored because after all, orange man bad thus wall bad.
so when did Fox news lost it status with you, just now or it was ok when they were just slamming Obama and Clinton?
That "journalist" should be banned from the White House press corps....his actions were indefensible, and if he acts like he did again, he will be permanently banned from the White House press corps now that the unofficial rules have become official.
