Even when he was "getting the **** beat out of him" he was still incredibly productive except for when he was hurt. That's my point. On top of that, he never caused as many sacks in a season as Watson did this year. Was the O line mediocre? Absolutely, did Watson actively make the situation worse by not being able to read defenses and by holding on to the ball too long? Absolutely.

Watson has a LOT to learn and you can't simply blame his struggles on the O line given that there was only one QB in the NFL that was responsible for more sacks than Watson this season.

Lol watson wasn’t productive this year ?
I mean I get you love luck and all but he was making the same mistakes Watson was making when his O-line stunk

He wasn't productive today, and if we want to talk about the regular season, the defense still carried the weak ass offense. He wasn't in the top 10 in TD passes sitting behind Baker Mayfield.

I certainly would like to see him be more productive next season. This season he had the yards, and helped make our kicker the highest scoring kicker in the league due to all of the drives that stalled out when it matters, I'd like to see the TD's next season.

He had 31 total TDs with 9 picks with the worst O-line in the league.....

It wasn't the worst O line in the league and you have to include rushing TD's just to have his numbers comparable with other QB's passing TD's alone.....Also he just got done getting his ass kicked in a playoff game where he managed 1 TD that honestly probably should have been called a fumble and a touchback...and he should have thrown about 4 interceptions if not for DB's dropping them and Hopkins playing some really good defense to bail him out.

Why make excuses for him? It's not like he'll never get any better, pretending that he's there now just kills your credibility.

No **** he’s not there yet but ur acting like he should be this O-line has mostly swing tackles/back ups on it Davenport a 4th rounder rankin 3rd Kendall lamm ? And Fulton who was a cast away from the chiefs and rushing TDs still count as points right ?
Look at the colts O-line and tell me how much they put into their line compared to us over the years

Watson has alot to learn sure, but I'm not going to sit here and act like him playing behind the worst O-line in the league doesn't hinder his play significantly.
The first quarter of the season the Texans O-line was on pace to be one of the worst in recent memory, they simply were not a functioning unit in pass protection. They got noticeably better as the season progressed but by no measure are they "mediocre". Even if you deduct sacks attributed to Watson he's still one of the most sacked, hurried, and hit QBs in the league.

I'm not acting like he should be, I'm just pointing out that he's not. The O line is no excuse for what Watson is doing wrong. They aren't causing him to miss wide open receivers or not see them when they are open. The O line is not causing Watson to fail to read defenses or to nearly throw multiple interceptions. All of that is just an excuse.

When your QB is 2nd in the league in causing sacks, you can't blame that on the O line.

Now sure, there are things you absolutely can blame them for but the terrible play calling, awful scheme, and the QB screwing up are just not those things.

O’Brien ran Watson and used RPOs in. Game that was out of reach but couldn’t use them in the end zone or to start off game smh

It's not the worst O line in the league....that's just something people say when they want to make excuses for Watson or for BOB. When you have a QB that holds on to the ball for over 3 seconds per snap on average, he's going to get sacked a ton...especially when he causes the second most sacks in the NFL.

LOL. They gave up 62 sacks. Even if you remove the 14 sacks credited to Watson......they still lead the league. LOL.

They are ranked #32. Um...there is no #33.

And I pointed out that even if you deduct the negative plays attributed to Watson they are still bottom or near bottom of the league in almost every metric.

While there were 14 directly charged to Watson, 44 of the 62 sacks came 4.5 seconds or more after the snap....kind of asking a lot from an O line. I know you have already deified Watson, but he really does have a lot to learn and was a big part of the problem this season.

Depends on what you consider his fault, there were 14 of the sacks that he was 100% responsible for, but many many more where he merely held on to the ball longer than anyone could expect blockers to protect him for. There are QB's who make the job of the O line easy and QB's who make it hard. There are few who make it harder on their O line than Watson.

Honest question. How many more Sacks do you think we would have had if not for Watson's elusiveness and ability to extend plays?

With him still holding on to the ball like he does and failing to read defenses? A ton. No O line is going to protect you forever, you have to get the ball out on time
