Gotta be Cal because Gaine not gonna fire his buddy that got him the job. Doubt he does it even if merited. If he did, gotta fire both it seems.
Texans won 9 in a row. "Please lock this thread." Thank you @DonnyMost for getting it unlocked again.
We can hope all we want but he's not going to get fired. Just getting there is still good enough and he put the current GM in his job. They made some money on people buying division championship t-shirts...which I'll never understand. 11-5 was a good regular season. But it wasn't without it's unnecessary struggles. They players have some fault and some circumstances didn't help (loss of important players to injury). But it was piss poor coaching for large portions of the season that created this situation. When you look back, we were either very lucky to finish 11-5 or should be pissed because it very easily could've been 12-4 or 13-3 if the coaching staff didn't make so many mistakes. In either case, many of the good this season was in spite of O'Brien...not because of him. He's taken them as far as he's capable. It's time to move on.
It would be brighter if OB wasn't included in the future. No optimism with him leading the way. He's just not good enough. The team wasn't prepared enough yet again on a big stage.
I looked at the stats that matter, The Colts gave up 21.5 points per game this season and are coming off giving up 27 to offensive juggernaut the Giants and 17 to the outstanding Titans who didn't have their starting QB......then the amazing Texans offense managed just 7 points. Look, I get why you're doing this, but you will only embarrass yourself.
Since I don’t think O’Brien gets fired, can we least look to get a decent offensive coordinator and effectively fire him out of that position? I would look at Watson’s OC at Clemson, Jeff Scott.
It wasn't even really 7. It was more like 0. The Colts softened up and went into deep zone as the game got out of hand and we barely managed to punch it in still.
He's inked for four more years. Theoretically, you could fire him but having to pay a coach to sit on the couch? I'd rather they'd just get an OC.
The Houston Texans are not the Salvation Army. They have money. A lot of it. They made a mistake. Now fix it and send buttchin to the dung heap.
O’Brien shouldn’t be a head coach but I’d be shocked if he’s fired. He’ll get at least one more year. We’re going to have to invest in an o-line and hope that the talent out performs the coaching. It’s happened before.
