No big deal, except to the many hundreds of thousands of federal employees forced to go home without pay or to work without pay. To small business who can not get SBA loans. To anyone hoping to get a HUD grants or loans. Anyone wanting a passport. Anyone that needs info re: tax returns. Anyone wanting to go to a national park or museum.

    Yea... no big deal.

I think the opposite will happen with the upcoming tax season and with so many people waiting on tax returns.

Anything Trump wants to do that will make Republican Senators think their lives would be easier without him around, I'm for.

Trump loves this right now. He does not care about the 65% of Americans that think this is batsh$t crazy and a political stunt holding 800k workers hostage in the process.

He knows FoxNews and Rush Limbaugh will cover this issue 24/7 with his same racist viewpoint and it keeps them from talking about Mueller, SDNY, Cohen, etc etc.

This isn’t just a strategy to hold govt workers hostage... it’s a strategy to hold his “base” hostage via a right wing media running loop on a topic he knows will benefit him.

He has been underestimated before and like a phoenix rose from the ashes.....

However, people not getting paid, home foreclosures.... actual real security within the USA at risk....... and the prospect of late tax refunds?

No...... people are not going to like that.

All the blame will not go on Trump, it will go on all the branches...... but he has spear headed this and he will get most of it.

Well that's kind of my point. He will get MOST of the blame because most of the US & the media we consume won't be favorable to him on this issue.

However its not about the majority. Its about holding FoxNews, Rush, & Co. hostage on an issue that they'll convince their viewers is everyone else's fault other than Trump because its their central issue as well. He doesn't care about getting most of the blame as long as his base doesn't blame him which they won't on this issue so he knows he has the power to stretch this out as long as he can.

As much as this man talks about elections, and how I'm sure he cannot wait to start doing rallies for 2020, this is not a person who is plotting to win again in 2020. This is a guy holding onto power with his core supporters in desperation cause he has accepted he has nobody else.

He is showing signs of being really worried about getting kicked out of office pretty soon. Its getting quite obvious.

I said it once, and I'll say it again.... what if Obama was so desperate for the approval of the Democratic Socialist wing of the party that for a ROUTINE budget resolution he refused to sign anything that did not include 5 billion dollars for free college for all money?

And free college for all is a hell of alot more popular that building a damn wall in the middle of the desert that nobody really wants. Trump had 2 years of COMPLETE congressional control, and couldn't pass legislation like the consitution clearly sets up these type of investments to get processed through. If he cannot get his own Republican controlled Congress to pass legislation for two years how is it Constitutional to abandon this process, and hold American taxpayers & workers hostage to pass something even his own Congress rejected.

That is the definition of tyranny.

This is a man who is desperate, and losing whatever grip he had if he ever had it. If he'll do this to stay in power, what else will he do?

I'm not too worried about that. It buys Mueller time and space to operate, and when he wants to make a headline he won't have any problem getting people's attention.

This gives Trump more leverage the longer this goes on.

Federal workers are going to wonder why Pelosi is denying them pay checks over a few billion dollars for border security.

The Senate passed a resolution 100-0. The house has now passed similar resolution. There is only one person standing in the way, and it isn't Pelosi.
