They're too good for Morey to actually get unless he gives up a lot of assets. Has struck out on every single coveted pickup so far.
Selden fwiw is still better than Chriss and on a cheap deal i think, 2nd rounder from Memphis are also better than our own so...
He's not that great. He would just be a role player off the bench. I don't get the sentiment that we "struck out".
the thing is we can't even land guys who "aren't that great". no one wants to deal with morey. rox will have to overpay greatly for even decent players.
Same here, and i like Holiday, but he's not a game changer, House is doing fine and Ennis will be back soon. If Memphis traded two 2nd rounders and a young player on a cheap contract, i guess we should've traded Chriss or Nene with three 2nd rounders or a 1st. Is Holiday worth that? Nope.
Not many CHEAP 3&D guys on the market, I think thats why I'm a little bummed. I don't see the Rox going after a high priced wing like Otto/Bazemore. Carroll hasn't been good this year IMO so I don't see many options.
That's true, but still, i don't really think we're a Justin Holiday away to win the chip so, i'm all for keeping our assets to get a solid or great player if/when available. To boost the bench we can still wait for a cheap deal at the deadline or the buyout market, House is doing fine enough to be conservative with our (few) assets imo.
Holiday would have been nice if the price was right, but I’m not going to lose any sleep over this. Patience is key. Save the 1st rounder(s) for a bigger name and for someone you’re guaranteed to keep behind at least this season. Holiday is on an expiring deal. We’ll still be one of the most attractive destinations once the buyout market kicks into gear. It’s conceivable you can get a better player than Holiday via buyout. Hell, Austin Rivers is probably a better player than Holiday. Let’s see where the DeMarre Carroll’s of the world end up in a month or so.
You would think we’d need more of a 4/5 type than another wing, especially if PJ could slide to the 3, but another wing player seems to be Morey Ahab’s harpoon needed to go after Golden State the White Whale, so....the search continues.
Yep, and not a coincidence that the teams that made a trade this early in the season are the most desperate, Utah, Memphis, Washington, Phoenix. I guess we've been close at some point, or maybe not, but i'm glad we didn't move a 1st or multiple 2nds for a Korver or a Holiday.

Most avail players have overpaid contracts. There is not many cheap guys out there. That is why it is kind of expensive.
It is debatable that Holiday is a better defender than Rivers. Holiday also has seen his efficiency go down from 3 after a very strong start. I would have been happy with Holiday but once Memphis offered two seconds, it would have cost us a first rounder. There is also a real chance Memphis is flipping him in a few weeks anyway. If I am moving a first round pick, I am likely moving several of them for a higher caliber player than a rental of Holiday.

would have been hard to be upset with chriss/melo/pick for holiday. we only have 6 nba players on the roster. the rest are fringe at best, and we need at least 8-9 to make it back to the WCF. holiday is an nba player. by definition that would've made us better. we still would've had knight and picks to acquire another 1-2 players to fill out the rotation.
