I like Holiday, and if we trade for him, early bird rights will be there next summer. But the way House is playing, i wouldn't trade a 1st for Justin unless we also dump Knight to Chicago.
so trade draft picks for a guy like holiday when they already have essentially the same exact type of player in Ennis on the roster. makes sense
Now I know he plays for a bad team but he got shooting nights that would make Westbrook blush. Dude has shooting nights of 1-11, 2-11, 1-12, 1-7, 2-10, 3-10 and that’s just the last month. He’s hot/cold like Jamal Crawford without the range. Very polarizing shooter.... not a fan
seriously tho, we already have really bipolar shooters like Green Gordon and House, we really cant have another one that can go 1-10 on any given night.
Haven't you been following the aelliott and Sweet Lou 4 2 debate? It's more about position on the court these days than height.
Holiday is better than Ennis, imo. Similar 3 point %'s, but Holiday has proven he can do it at much higher volume, where Ennis proved he was reluctant to do it at the volume the team likes. Then Holiday provides more ancillary stuff - slightly - on a per possession basis. That said, it's very close, and Ennis has slightly more size, and how many guards do you need, when you actually really need a solid, bruising, rebounding, defending big off the bench?? In other words, as others have said, if no other reasonable deals materialize OR the price is cheap - like two 2nds or something - then go ahead. If at the trade deadline there's nothing else available and you have to move say a top 20 protected first ... I'd probably be okay with that. I absolutely value and respect DM's ability to pluck a Capela out of a post #20 pick, though... but the squad is obviously a win now squad. And if you're at that deadline and the Bulls would do something like Knight, Chriss, MCW, Melo, Hartenstein, top 20 protected for Jabari and Holiday, I'd do that, too. Jabari absolutely ISN'T that big, bruising PF I mentioned, and especially not the defender (lol), but as a potential floor spacing, offensive big off the bench that MOST IMPORTANTLY is a contract that basically expires (it's a team option, so frankly, might be a valuable asset to trade in the offseason before the FA period starts)... then you're getting rid of Knight's $$ next year, which might allow Tillman to spend the full MLE (at this point, it is what it is, he's going to spend, but obviously not crazily unless they're winning rings, which I can respect from a business perspective).
Exactly. He definitely wouldn’t have been the one to break 0-27 for us. Our next acquisition should be a sharpshooter on the deep end of the bench. Like Trey Daniels.
tbh the difference between the two is just not close to give up something like picks up for holiday. its basically a wash to me so I don't really see any reason to give up anything valuable for him. I mean if chicago wanted mcw back on their team by all means get that done asap.
It'd be kind of similar to trading Brewer and the first for Lou Williams. They already had EG. Granted, Lou was/is obviously better than Holiday. And, ultimately, I actually think the trade kind of messed with EG's efficiency a bit. But you get the idea. I guess the issue here would be does it make sense to have 144 minutes for Harden, Paul, House, Green, EG, Rivers and Holiday. 7 players, 3 positions. Especially when MDA always shortens the bench. Harden (35), Paul (30), House (23), Green (15), EG (25), Rivers (20), Holiday (20) = 168... too many. I guess it comes down to how much you value a late 20s pick... Rockets pick is currently around 21st. One would expect at the trade deadline it might be closer to mid to late 20s, or if its not, DM will be more aggressive in including multiple picks to try and swing for something much bigger.
well the difference between lou and holiday is very significant. the difference between ennis and holiday not so much. I'd rather just have a much better player if you're giving up something like a pick
I've watched some Bulls games and I'm just not seeing this guy as that good? It's not like he's a terrific on ball defender so he's not the Ariza type. And he's not really a pure shooter either. Would he just be extra depth? Cause I think we're kind of covered at the guard spots if CP3 and EGo are healthy. I'd rather just play Green and Rivers.
