When you trying to get in the big bowl games and win it matters what players and whom is coaching them.

the only bowl games UH is getting into are the new years bowls so long as they remain where they are. And we've already seen that you can make a new years bowl without a team stack full of 4/5 stars. you're not saying anything people really don't already know

This is huge...... this is almost as big as the new head coach hire because in college football assistants are extremely important.

You can see why the Regents allow Tillman to do just about anything he wants concerning football and basketball.

Having the budget of a P5 school for coaching, coupled with very much improved football facilities and being located in Houston is going to give UH a huge advantage over almost every non-P5 school in the nation. UH should win, with their in conference schedule, there is no real excuse not to win.

Bottom line those better recruits make for a better team and help win championships that's clear.

No complaints about the change only ask if he could recruit 4s and 5s if that's what you call the rest well I think that is a very important part of it all I'm saying.

Avoiding UH? Not because of football bro, it's all about money and exposure which UH won't bring. They've added LSU, Ohio State, Alabama, Georgia, Michigan and Arkansas to their out of conference schedule...but yeah, totally avoiding UH due to fear. C'mon breh.

I also root for you guys so please dont make this an argument. I'm truly happy you guys got a true coach and the school is going to pay out for coaches. Go Coogs!

Good to see the Horns get back into conversation . Great win for Tom Herman and the Longhorns against a great football team last night

I route tor the Horns as well just not with the same passion I route for UH. Regardless of their reasons for not playing each other it would make for a great rivalry. Thank you for the well wishes on our new HC and hopefully if the rumors out there are true of the new DC and remainder of coaching staff. Coaching does make a difference as we have found out the hard way over the last 10 years or so with Levine and Applewhite. And as UT has found out in a positive way with the hiring of Tom Herman.

I heard a story from when he was here before about him being smashed at the hotel bar the night before the Ft Worth Bowl. I don't know if it was the year we beat Air Force or the year Case threw 6 picks and we got our stools pushed in. In a bit of irony about the whole bright spot in that second game was Tyron Carrier running a kickoff back for a touchdown.

The difference here is that Holgerson is bringing an offensive mindset that matches the talent. Applewhite took 3 years to figure it out, but was incapable of making adjustments on the fly because he lacked the knowledge. Holgerson should have no trouble with that. We're never going to get an elite coach, but we should always have a guy with the right mindset. On defense, our greatest strength was when we could create one negative play on a drive from the DL to offset our lack of size. We never needed much. Just be aggressive and force a couple of third and long.
